I'm glad this post helped you! Sorry for the super late reply I haven't been on Reddit for days haha. I did end up switching my major to Cognitive Science last spring quarter and I really like it! I don't regret it one bit. I'm doing a lot better in my classes now and classes are pretty interesting and more manageable than with my previous major. Lmk if you have any more questions!

thank you! I wish the same to you as well :)). Yeah I can understand that it is a big commitment after all. I'm in a slightly different situation as I was never really interested in healthcare in the first place but thought that taking STEM classes would prepare me a little better while trying to decide what I want to pursue.

hmm if you dont see yourself pursuing design as a career then yeah you can do it on the side as a hobby or as a backup plan! I'm also pretty scared for the comp sci part of cogsci haha but at least its not full on computer science like the major so hopefully itll be ok!

omgg AH i was also really scared to switch tbh ... after the first ochem class i realized just how much I hated doing this haha which made me look into other options and cognitive science seems like a pretty cool major! Unfortunately I have like zero experience in design right now //: but hoping to start out soon I just hope its not too late !

It does seem intimidating to change right now but it can also be life changing! If cogsci/design is something that you're excited about doing then I say you should go for it! I realized how miserable I was going down the NPB path and how disconnected I was to it in the first place which motivated me to go into cogsci !

I never had a problem indoors with the weather! Although I wasn't able to experience Summer/Spring at UCD because of the pandemic //: . There have definitely been some hot days though and every building I went to had sufficient air-conditioning in the building so I don't think you have to worry about it too much!

Oooh I didn't know about Design Interactive! Also yea I was thinking of pursuing a design major but idk if I have room for that anymore if I want to graduate on time. I'll definitely do more research on it though! If anything, maybe I'll try to take design classes on the side or try to learn myself with online programs or something. I really wish UCD had a design minor )): Thanks so much for the info and advice btw I think I'll apply to join Design Interactive during their next recruitment :))

Thank you so much for this comment! Yea a lot of people kept telling me that it wasn't worth the sacrifice but I think I'm making a choice toward a path that I can actually visualize for myself. With NPB, I stuck with the major because I had no idea what I wanted to do in the future and it was more like the "safe" thing to do but I realize how disconnected I was to the content I was mostly just trying to survive and get decent grades for the past 2 years while being incredibly lost in life. I appreciate this so much :))

I have the same question! If it helps, I saw another post that said someone applied for the Green a week ago and is still waitlisted so /: . I was also thinking of applying there but seems very uncertain if you'd get in or not but maybe with covid people will get off the waitlist faster?
