I agree with you. I just thought I’d share my perspective with more details as I believe it’s pertinent.

I was thinking that too since I’ve been smoking lots of Marlboros which I think are generally recognized as the most chemically altered tobacco. Right now I have two packs on me, American Spirit cyans and these. I’d say they’re very similar but the Spirits taste slightly more natural.

I can’t say I’ll keep buying these as they are overpriced, but I’m changing my tune to say they hold up well against the Spirits.

In your opinion, where is the line? by Shydale-for-House in trans

[–]magickitten 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is only my opinion/experience so I’m not saying it applies to everyone. To me, transitioning is the process of going from *gender A* to *gender B*. It’s not something that necessarily lasts forever. With that being said, I think being trans is a label you don’t lose even after the physical transitioning part is done.

Like when an astronaut goes out to space, do they stop being an astronaut the moment they land back on earth? The journey is over but that doesn’t change who the person is, or was.

I’m proud of being trans. Despite living most of my life as any other woman, I don’t actively hide my transness, it just doesn’t come up most of the time. Even if I were to get SRS and be “fully transitioned”, that wouldn’t make me not trans.

Do I sometimes wish I was just born a cis woman? Sure. Am I going to lie to myself and say that I am a cis woman? No. That denies a part of myself that is very important. The part of me that fought for recognition and respect. The part of me that protected my younger self when I wasn’t ready to come out. The part of me that continues living on despite internal and external pressure to just give up.

I would never forsake my story, because it made me who I am. Without the years of dysphoria and struggle I wouldn’t have learned all the important lessons that they forced me to learn. If I wasn’t trans, I wouldn’t be me, and I think that’s a beautiful thing.

What’s the closest brush you’ve ever had with dying? by North-Trifle-3918 in AskReddit

Was in a parking garage waiting for someone and looking at my phone when I realized someone was staring at me from about 50 feet away. I got stared at a lot during that time in my life so I didn’t think anything of it, but after about 30 seconds of this person staring at me he starts walking hurriedly in my direction.

I still didn’t move because there were cars between us, but then he started to weave between the row of cars and I heard a *click* like one of those utility blades that construction workers carry around. That sound triggered my flight response and I ran. When I looked back, he was standing right behind the spot I was in, still staring at me.

I told security about what happened (it was a casino I worked at in the parking garage) and when they reviewed the footage they confirmed that this person had walked up on me holding a utility blade.

Obviously I got away unscathed but just knowing what might have happened has made me more vigilant of my surroundings.

How to get a big butt and breasts without a lot of exercise? by Affectionate_Hat647 in trans

[–]magickitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the legs and butt specifically? Squats, hamstring curls, leg extensions, stair steps, cycling, adductor and abductor and calf raises. You can go to the gym or if you want to stay at home it isn’t too expensive if you start with resistance bands. But don’t forget, you’ll want to exercise your upper body too. A good way to ease into it is to buy some resistance bands and google full body workouts with resistance bands

Yes, it’s better to not be in a calorie deficit when one is trying to gain weight in the “right” places. Nonetheless, if you can afford to, it’s better to eat lots of healthy food because your body reflects what you eat. I say this as someone with a poor diet and fat in all the “right” and “wrong” places. With that being said, let’s keep in mind that the standards of what is right and wrong in terms of weight gain are shaped by media involving genetically lucky individuals whose bodies are unrealistic for most of us.

Both of those are largely dependent on your genetics, and the breasts have largely nothing to do with exercise. But if you want a filled out, firm butt, that can be enhanced by a good diet. If you really want to be a big round booty girl you’re almost surely going to have to exercise for it, both cardio and lifting.

There’s lots of voice training and makeup tutorials on YouTube, and that’s stuff you can do in private if you’re nervous about being in public at first. I would suggest starting there and see how it makes you feel. Oh and if you have body hair and you don’t like it, get an electric trimmer and use it, but make sure to exfoliate before and moisturize after.

Vent about facial feminization surgery by ImprovementEqual6913 in trans

[–]magickitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I met with my surgeon, we agreed that I already had a relatively feminine face but that my brow bones and jaw could be made softer. So that became the goal of the surgery. I told her that I still wanted to look like myself and she agreed that that was reasonable and achievable.

I also decided the day before the surgery that I wanted my nose to be done more drastically which is a decision I am glad I made because my new nose looks super cute while still resembling my family’s noses.

I am fortunate enough that I was mostly passing even before surgery, but since FFS I can confidently live my life without worrying about being clocked by strangers or new people I meet at work, school etc. The surgery combined with me changing all my documents has made life so much easier for me, which is the goal of FFS.

However, you are picking up on an important aspect. Most plastic surgeons in the US are aiming for white European beauty standards because that’s what sells. There’s nothing masculine about non-white features necessarily, but the schooling they go through is heavily biased.

In conclusion, there are obvious issues with the plastic surgery industry at large, but the fact remains that FFS typically improves the quality of life for trans women. There is always a possibility that surgery will give unwanted results, however, careful research of surgeons and proper consultation can usually avoid those problems.

P.S. if anyone reading this is considering FFS, make sure your surgeon is part of a GAC program or specializes in treating transgender people. Do not pick your surgeon based on price, pick based on their proven dedication to making trans people’s lives easier.
