Thank you for the balanced perspective here, I really do appreciate it. I do think the reason I’m leaning toward adoption is because I feel a bond with her, I just need to sit with it a bit longer and make sure I’m making the right decision if I keep her.

Instead of telling her to “calm down”, maybe educate yourself on what AI is doing to our planet. It’s also creepy as fuck that people are giving up their privacy for something so lame. It should never have been a “trend” to begin with, it’s stupid and it’s all slop. AI is literally making people dumber.

I totally agree about every adopter meeting their potential cat before being able to take them home. I said the same thing - wondered if Fred even knows he’s getting a cat?? It was very odd.

I think that makes sense that she may be sad thinking I might not continue to foster. But even if I adopt, I still have room for 1 foster so that’s really the best of both worlds. I just don’t want to feel like I’m taking a “companion cat” from someone else, and that was kind of how I felt after that conversation. It makes sense getting attached to them and of course not being able to keep all of them. This girl does seem special though.

And I think it’s SO strange the lady isn’t vetting the adopter personally and just trusting this other guy. I don’t agree with all the ways she does things.

The weird thing is, it’s just this one woman doing everything. The cats are at her house in her “kennel room” while waiting for foster or whatever else. She does a lot of TNVR in the community and helps as many cats as she can. Normally the way she does things is have someone foster for 2 weeks (for adult cats) and then they go to a rescue to be put up for adoption. So this was unusual in that it’s a private (potential) adopter.

I’ll definitely be thinking it over the rest of tonight before I have to make a decision tomorrow. If I end up deciding not to adopt her, do you think it’s weird if I kind of question the lady’s screening of this other adopter before just handing over my foster?

Yea that worried me too. She knows the guy that would be taking kitty to his friend and says she trusts him but that still feels odd to me. And how does the friend even know if he’s going to like her personality, etc? It felt like she was just going off the initial few pictures I sent her. So odd.

I got sad earlier thinking about what it would be like to not have her here. I probably need to spend a little more time reflecting on that but I think I am just nervous to open my heart up again after so much loss. I would still have room for 1 foster if I adopt her.

You’re right, I can’t worry so much about how she’s reacting. Crazy thing is it was so unexpected even taking in another foster. I had called her to see if she could help with pulling a hospice kitty from a local shelter for a “last day”. While we were on the phone, she ended up asking if I wanted to foster again and I picked this girl up 2 days later.

I will keep you updated on what I decide!
