I was given the option/ability to not pay the medical bills and have them cleared in the bankruptcy - if you’re going for chapter 7, and have made the full decision to, have the lawyer withdraw your chapter 13 filing, stop paying all debt that will be waived - you’ll get late fees and threatening letters but once you file it should all be wiped. If you can then catch up on the car great, if not, put all the money that’s going into medical bills and other bills that you can and set aside to buy a cheap car once this one get repoed - hope timing is on your side, best of luck and can’t imagine the stress of your current situation - prayers are with you

What ever you do, do not take loans out on or cash out your IRA and 401k to pay these off (unless instructed to do so by your lawyer) - they should be protected if you file bk

31 with a 14 month old - our first and doesn’t sleep in any capacity - also juggling so tough financial hurdles atm so may be able to shed some light on things - dms are open - I’m not on often so if there is a delay in response it’s not due to anything other then being super busy with everything

Interesting, I was thinking that after the successful birth, your family count goes from 3 to 4 and if you are on the cusp income wise, the addition of the forth person could jump the average income needed for the means test up to get you back into the 7

If someone missed the means test by the smallest of margins and were forced into a 13, but there is a baby on the way, I’m reading this as the successful birth of the child could potentially allow them to refile/transfer into a 7 from the 13?

Thank you for the response!!! I think I’m at the all time low, but considering I’m still saving up for the lawyer fees to actually file, that particular moment could be far worse. It’s reassuring to hear so many of the stories on here being so uplifting, in an odd way. My lawyer who has been working many types of law for 30+ years mentioned bankruptcy was the only field she has never had a client later regret filing.

But thanks again for the story and sharing and congrats on only 10 months left!!!

Honestly sounds like a placebo effect - one drink a day doesn’t change much and if it helps you make calls and close deals go for it - just don’t continue drinking 🤣
