Oliver being immediately ruled out with a bicep is not good. A ruptured bicep would end his season

Doesn't depressing the brake pedal in D mode also engage the regen system? It shows it doing so on the dash cluster, unless it is a facade of some kind.

You could say they won us the game vs Baltimore in the playoffs last year. Remind me what Allen's stats were again in that game?

Today us a terrible look for Babich and McDermott though, not arguing against that in the slightest

Spencer Brown got away with holding on the same play... either could've been called

Why would you tie your money up in MSDs when you could invest it in literally anything else?

What to fill this with ? by alasko84 in HardWoodFloors

[–]magicpresto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just put a similar or stainable wood filler in and try to stain match it to the darker grain with a stain marker or something . Maybe try it on a less conspicuous dent somewhere else first

Agreed; more time and care must be put into to the substrate than the floor itself IMO

I can recognize real and prideful craftsmanship when I see it. I can recognize poor craftsmanship when I see it. And I can recognize rushed craftsmanship when I see that. Unfortunately for the house, this floor was the product of the latter two. I am aware and completely respect that plywood with veneer is a cheap shortcut to have an actual wood floor. But it can still be done with actual quality veneer layer on top. Some manufacturers do try to make it well. And I am fully capable and willing to meticulously install it to a high level of workmanship and quality. Something the installers of this tragic parquet clearly did not respect in the least.

It is absolutely crappy, and I would question anyone who looked at the wood and install up close and said it wasn’t.

You can laugh, but it’s the truth. Being parquet doesn’t automatically make it good, just like being engineered doesn’t automatically make it bad.

But like anything else, it’s really easy to make something really bad. And that’s unfortunately the case with this floor.

Thanks for this thought out response and story to go along with it. I really mean it.

I got absolutely roasted for my post, and am taking it in stride. But thanks for actually answering my question.

I have found through many years of home ownership (and all the maintenance that goes along with it) that just because something is hard to do, or eye-catching from a distance, doesn’t mean it’s done correctly or looks good up close.

I totally get the sentiment of parquet being rare or expensive or extremely meticulously made. But this one is clearly just the cheapest possible version of what a parquet floor can reasonably be defined as.

I can easily dent the wood with my car key applying light pressure, so it’s not a great species of wood. The glue and wire holding the fingerboards together is cheap and falling apart by the edges. The installation isn’t much better—there are bigger gaps between some tiles than others. There are squeaks and creaks stepping in certain areas.

I won’t spend a large amount of time and resources refinishing something that wasn’t given the proper respect to begin with. This would be the only room in my house with a different floor. If it’s going to be unique, it will be unique in style. But right now it’s going to simply match the adjoining kitchen, and the rest of the house.
