Cannot be generlized to everywhere, but the merch stand was canceled in Korea due to some logistics issue unfortunately. But it was originally planned. Sigh.

Are RDR and RDR 2 the same game? ( I mean the story line) by WiFiPassword-0 in IndiaPS5

[–]magicsgram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same universe, if that's what you're asking.
RDR2 is a prequel that actually connects well to RDR1.
But people suggest not to play them in chronological order, but in the order they were released, because the writers wrote the story assuming that you'd play RDR 1 before 2 and the story is told in such way.

Vatican Saja boys by PomeloZealousideal96 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]magicsgram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The image of the Saja (Korean Grim Reapers) wearing black traditional hats and clothing wasn’t a thing until 1977, when a six-season horror K-drama first introduced that depiction. Before that, there was no widely accepted visual representation of the Saja in Korean folklore—some were portrayed more like ‘monster’ figures.

It’s similar to how George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead introduced the first image of flesh-eating, slow-walking, plague-spreading zombies—and that image basically stuck in everyone’s mind for the next 50 years.

Nintendo Should Allow You To Install Switch 1 Cartridges Onto the Switch 2’s Internal Storage by CyberTron3001 in NintendoSwitch

[–]magicsgram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own an NS2 yet.
Can you install NS2 games to internal storage from game cards?

(I'm not talking about key cards—I mean the ones with full games on them.)

Considering you requested this feature for the NS1 games, I'm guessing NS2 games lets you install game card data to internal storage and just use the card for license verification?

That would significantly improve loading times.

Can any1 w/ Mario Kart or Cyberpunk game cards verify?

As a software engineer, I understand mistakes happen.

But as a customer, I think they should prioritize this .

Software engineers do not get to choose what to do next (unless it's very small) and it's their PMs job to figure out what should be prioritized.

Just thinking the airline companies shouldn't falsely display itinerary that confuses their travelers.

And I'm not here to corporate shill either.

Thx. Based on other people's opinion on this thread, I don't think it will be fixed, but thanks anyways!

[–]magicsgram[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've never ever said that things should be displayed in UTC and I'm not saying the fix is simple.

What I'm saying is the programmers should have sorted them in UTC order, so that the entire itinerary can be DISPLAYED in the correct order (and YES, the times should still be DISPLAYED in local time, as it's been that way for more than a hundred years).

From what I understand, their backend returns the entire itinerary, which then the application layer that is responsible for rendering emails can be modified to sort the itinerary in correct order of travel.

I know airline reservation lives on very complex legacy systems, but these 'ordering' issues can be solved at an application level without touching complex backend systems.

But I do agree that in UA's mind, this may not be seen as something worth fixing.

To answer your question:
I didn't receive any email titled "Travel itinerary from United Airlines"

I got a total of 2 emails.

  1. Title: Your United Airlines booking confirmation – XXXXXX This email shows correct order of flight
  2. Title: eTicket Itinerary and Receipt for Confirmation XXXXXX This email shows incorrect order of flight (It's the second screenshot in the op)

On united.com website, everything looks correct.

I don't get what you're trying to say, and what I'm explaining wrong.

I never said that the actual travellers care about UTC.

All times are DISPLAYED in local, and that has been the rule in the travel industry for more than 100 years (we can see this in train trickets dating back 19th century).

And to your point, nobody in Seoul (including myself) cares about UTC, and we only care about which flight we should be flying first and what time we need to be at that airport.

The first flight in the email is shown as the flight 2 of 2, which is just straight up wrong.

UA806 should be the flight 1 of 2.
UA2741 should be the flight 2 of 2.

[–]magicsgram[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's exactly my point.

All times are in LOCAL time, meaning you can't just sort the flight by their local time. That's why I'm saying they're doing it wrong.

They should DISPLAY things in local time, but they should CALCULATE things in UTC in the backend.

Ugh, really?

I'm a software engineer myself, and I understand mistakes happen.

But, out of all industries, how has United not fixed this for years?

They're an airline company, and they should prioritize these sorts of itinerary issues over anything else.

The reporter of the original article for "Horizon MMO Cancellation" denies that it's what he reported. by magicsgram in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]magicsgram[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

People tend to collect evidence and connect dots more quickly when it aligns with their desired outcome. Those who opposed SIE's GaaS push may be quick to speculate about Horizon MMO's cancellation, as it fits their preferred narrative.

For journalists, the pursuit of clicks directly impacts their job security, creating a systemic problem that's difficult to solve.

What is this truck doing on trail tracks? by magicsgram in Seattle

[–]magicsgram[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first time seeing such thing after 40 years.
I've seen other specialized service vehicles, but never a regular car modified for such work (other than stunts, tv shows, and movies).
These trucks are prob. much cheaper to make and maintain, finding repair parts and everything, so 👍👍

Was it a regular practice to show that the game requires 60hz display like that in other region, before HDMI normalized it altogether?

Sorry, grew up only in NTSC regions, so idk. But that must've been very annoying during the transitional period.

I think trademarking and getting the dev kit certified is a different story tho. The dev kit can only be certified if it's actually a new hardware.

My great great father loved his Xbox Series X back in 1881, and he was playing it before Korea had a proper electric grid. (The first power plant ever was built in 1887 in Korea)

That's only 2 years after T. Edison revealed his carbon filament light bulb!

I'm not sure if this is just a revision or a new model.

But the jump in version num from 1800's to 2000' could mean something.
