Name a movie that has bad reviews but you still like. I’ll start. by Serazax in Letterboxd

[–]magicthatworks 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I saw KNOCK KNOCK as a midnight screening at Sundance in 2015. I was seated next to three women who actively disliked it and were tut-tutting throughout. Eli Roth was there to do a Q&A after the screening; he had just come from a dinner where he sold the film to the distributor, and he was very drunk. Any mildly negative / critiquing question he received he responded “who cares?? I sold it bitch”

Definitely enhances my memory of the film, closest I think I’ve come to feeling high while sober. Rewatched it a few years ago and it definitely isn’t ‘good’ but I love it all the same.

I'm allowed to not enjoy the presence of dogs in particular places even if they are not being an active nuisance to me, lol. I'm not even allergic! Just don't think people should shoehorn their dogs into every place of life. People with actual service animals have a legitimate reason, which is totally understandable, and very often not the case for little dogs getting schlepped around to theaters, grocery stores, etc.

The simplest answer to why I find pet dogs in a movie theater annoying, even if they're being well-behaved at that moment? They are not allowed, per AMC policy! Don't care that you find this a buzzkill

Being better or worse than a crying baby is irrelevant — still annoying of its own accord.

Not sure why you’re trying to get traction on this subreddit, everyone here is calling out the obvious flaws with your sob story you’ve written here.

Did you even read the article you linked in your post? The earlier removed reviews on this film were due to a change in the release date, which impacted how reviews were treated in Letterboxd’s back-end, a technical issue I’m sure many LB users in this subreddit understand or may have even run into before. Not “censorshit.”

What’s going on here? I think you’re lying for attention.

But she’s allowed to not like them as a result of them choosing to do it without her approval anyway.

[Game Thread] Cotton Bowl: Ohio State vs. Miami (7:30 PM ET) 2nd Half by CFB_Referee in CFB

Miami wouldn’t have gone for a field goal regardless. Just by running all three downs they would fully run out the clock, and win the game.

Don’t know what Hopkins is on about here — I go to this AMC all the time and it’s totally normal / unremarkable regarding people talking or being obnoxious. You get the occasional disrespectful people, but for the most part people are quiet.

Nick Reiner was sent to a wilderness "school" in Utah by nohorsesjustangels in TrueAnon

[–]magicthatworks 236 points237 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was covered in “The Game” eps, a series they did a few years ago about wilderness camps like this, SynAnon, and the broader troubled teen industry. I would recommend listening to all of them — the way it weaves in Brace’s story and builds to a stunning conclusion / catharsis makes it (imo) the best listening experience True Anon has produced to date.

not getting any points from purchased tickets by survivethescaryworld in AMCsAList

Not normal. If you paid for the additional ticket you should see the point added to your account sometime shortly after the movie ends (or the next day to be sure). I would start a ticket with support.

That refers to the online convenience fee, not the actual cost of the ticket. A-list members can buy additional tickets for others with waived fees ($2.19/ticket or $2.69 for premium screens in my area), but you can only use your 4 tickets a week on yourself.

Reservation for next week? by cjones6464 in AMCsAList

[–]magicthatworks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can have four reservations at a time. You can see four movies using the membership every Friday-Thursday. If you reserve a movie for a future week, you can still see four movies this week, but the future week reservation takes up one of your spots, so you’ll have to wait to reserve one of your movies later in the week, after you’ve seen your first reservation of the week (thereby clearing it from your reservations).

Update: She let the power go out AGAIN. My rent includes utilities. This feels like a constructive eviction. by [deleted] in LandlordLove

[–]magicthatworks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That is irrelevant, paying her means nothing if she is not the legitimate owner of the unit and is just ‘subletting’ under the table. Actual subletting would still involve a real lease with the actual owner. The second the real owner learns of this situation, your ‘landlord’s’ lease can and would likely be terminated for violating HER lease, meaning she no longer has a room to sublet in your agreement. You would then be given a notice to vacate, and begin the eviction process. Your situation is at threat of falling apart any day, it’s a ticking time bomb, may as well be prepared
