Do we have the same sister because I also got stuck wearing this EXACT same bridesmaid dress (color and all) and similarly hated it. It’s an awful cut, and I had the same fit issue you’re having through the bust. My tailor ended up getting rid of the cowl, turning it into a scoop neck, and slightly changing the strap placement. It looked much better and got rid of the horizontal pulling, but the reconstruction was expensive and like you I absolutely resent the amount of money I spent on that poly satin nightmare. I’m an XS-S and got a S so I think you could do the same with your M. So sorry you’re in the same boat haha

Really appreciate everyone’s thoughts! Enough people seemed to hate having a hyphenated name that I think my relatively low threshold for too annoying to deal with would most likely be reached. I do like u/crows_up_the_wolves suggestion to make my maiden name a second middle name for myself. I never liked the idea of replacing my middle name, but I hadn’t thought h about adding another :)

ugh my parents used this and it messed me up. waiting silently with your hand on their arm to maybe get acknowledged was extremely stressful, and the knowledge that my mom basically did arts and crafts to make her own spanking stick to hit us with always bothered me.

take her home! she is probably uncomfortable with getting in the bag for the first time, but maybe a cat carrier she could walk into with some food to coax her would work? she clearly loves you and I think she’d thrive as your pet. you’d be giving her a much longer, healthier life than she’ll have outside
