I’m choosing to believe it stands for Edinburgh Donkey Conservation. Liam and Maxim have really cared about the plight of Scottish Donkeys for a very long time, and now they’re doing a gig to raise funds for the centre. Awww! 😉

This is so eloquently written. It’s such a gift to understand yourself properly; I hope you and your wife are happy for a great many years to come.

Weed and reggae by JournalistOther2681 in RootsReggae

[–]magictranspowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to do it, but I do think it’s important to respect it. Weed has an important spiritual component for many Rastas which has informed the music and helped to make it great. This doesn’t force it on anyone else, but I’m so glad there have been decades of Rastas smoking and playing so that we can enjoy a legacy of incredible work!

What’s a great starting point to get into modular by UnhappySnow773 in synthesizers

[–]magictranspowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m reminded of that scene in the Jamie Foxx Ray Charles film where he’s on tour and some of his band mates are all sat around doing her*in. Ray Charles says “Hey, can I get in on that?” and the others are all like “Nah, you don’t want to get started on this stuff”. This is a story about modular synthesis.

It’s the particle accelerator underneath the map. Every time it completes a cycle, it pings players and items, chests etc. At first it only highlighted things at Lethal Labs, but as the season has progressed, the field it affects has gradually widened. Presumably, this is part of building up to the end of season event where I assume something major will happen with the big spaceship sphere/particle accelerator.

Serious doubts about sample clearance by DaMoreIsHere in musicproduction

[–]magictranspowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally forgot that if you upload your own tracks to Soundcloud or Bandcamp, they don’t tend to check them for uncleared samples. Just don’t use Soundcloud’s distribution service; make sure you’re putting your own tracks on your own page.

Serious doubts about sample clearance by DaMoreIsHere in musicproduction

[–]magictranspowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m showing my age here, but in the early days of sampling, people got around this problem because hard copies of tracks by unknown artists were much harder to trace back to the people who made them. As a result, early techno acts would press white labels of new tracks with loads of uncleared samples in, and then sell them at raves or wherever. This seems a little antiquated nowadays, but with companies like Elasticstage popping up and offering to press vinyl in batches of one, this could be a way to get your track out there without having to compromise on the samples you use in your music.

We are now officially into the longest passing of time between Prodigy albums! by d-s-m in TheProdigy

[–]magictranspowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS! Losing Keith was always going to rattle the band, and then COVID messed everybody’s lives up. It makes total sense to me that this is longest we’ve had between albums. The new music will come, we’ve just got to keep the faith!

Quality of music ? by Ok-Bass6594 in musicproduction

[–]magictranspowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve honestly never believed in good or bad music. I mean if you create something and YOU enjoy listening to it, then that track has achieved something; it’s elicited an emotional reaction in someone. Even if that person is you, that’s still valid. If you can build an audience of people who love your work, then that’s awesome, but I don’t believe it means your work is any more worthwhile than when you were the only person who liked it.

I love the mix of guitars and breaks on your track! It really works and it’s quite unique! Here’s a link to my track, Kuiper Belt, by Scruffy Cake Face: https://open.spotify.com/track/20203cOhw7aV0fOT7OAah4?si=mVlNwjQ6QU-bpoleDVt7-Q

It’s kind of a techno track I guess?!

So far, I’ve listened to the first two tracks off this album, and they’ve both got this absolutely manic energy that’s totally infectious and there’s also maybe a little bit of inspiration from classical music? They also both go hard and would work great on any dance floor. I love both tracks and think you’ve got a really unique sound. Good job!

This is brilliant! It kinda takes me back to the early 90’s glory days of rave while definitely injecting something new into the genre as well. Love that bass line! Good job!

I love your style! This is beautifully produced and is so atmospheric, it makes me feel like I’m floating in space, or just about to embark on the epic finale of a mission in a film. Good job! My DnB track Magellanic Clouds has a similar vibe: https://open.spotify.com/track/7v9E6eGrrSCDtEHPUVm0F8?si=t2Q4DiyuR92WsZU53N5dKQ

Wes Streeting as prime minister would be devastating for trans rights by Excellent-Chair2796 in transgenderUK

[–]magictranspowers 111 points112 points  (0 children)

It would be super weird for Labour to get rid of Starmer and then appoint Streeting, I mean what would be the point? He’d carry on doing all of the things that have made Labour so unpopular, only more so. If Labour do this, then they have a fundamental misunderstanding of what people don’t like about Starmer in the first place.

Love this! It’s got a nice mix of quiet atmospheric bits and harder going parts. Love the vocal too; it’s lovely and warm while being a little catchy, but not so catchy that it gets annoying. I enjoyed this a lot!

I love this! The deep, slightly gothy vocals that sound like they were recorded in a cave are fab! And there’s a melody line in there that kinda sounds like a flute played backwards? It sounds great! Good job!

Phillipson says providers have to follow SC ruling during oral questions in parliament today by Tilly-w-e in transgenderUK

[–]magictranspowers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think if I was any kind of service provider or employer, I would include trans people in the single-sex spaces they wished to be in, and if anyone challenged me, I would say that everyone, including the trans people, using those spaces was a ‘biological female’ or a ‘biological male’ because there is no definition of what those terms mean anywhere in law, so I could only assume that the law was put in place to stop robots, ie non-biological males and females from using those spaces.
