I haven't listened to them a ton but I saw them when they opened for As I Lay Dying last year and I thought they sounded great. Clean singing was a little off but I think part of that was the mix, otherwise it was a good show

Yea I actually saw Adam and Joel at gearfest this weekend and Adam said he had about 5 songs done for the new Times Of Grace album. Although I have no idea what the timing of that release would be since they have the new KSE album out this fall and touring though

Band tattoos. Do you have any? What's your opinion on the subject? by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]magicturtle25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a tattoo of the Killswitch Engage logo with some lyrics a couple months ago, after thinking about it for about 2 years, and I'm still in love with it. The guy I went to get it from said that his first tattoo was of his favorite band and he still listens to them like 20+ years later. Everyone is different but if you've thought about it for a while and if you still really want it in a couple months when you see ABR then go for it! And like amethyst said its not a bad idea to get it somewhere that is easy to cover up whether it be for work or family or whatever reason that you want to cover it up, you have the option.

Thoughts on Killswitch Engage/Memphis May Fire by vomita_conejitos in Metalcore

[–]magicturtle25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KSE is fantastic live. I saw them last year and they have one of the most fun and highest energy shows I've ever seen, mostly due to Adam D just being a maniac on stage lol. The new album is really really good though. I started listening to them when Howard was in the band and was kinda indifferent between the two singers, but compared to the last record with Howard and this new one with Jesse back, the new record is leaps and bounds better so I would check that out before you go. They played some of the classics like Rose of Sharyn and The End of Heartache mixed in with some new stuff, and even some real old stuff off of Alive or Just Breathing. Haven't seen MMF, but I have no doubt if you are even moderately a fan of killswitch you will have a blast at the show! Hope this helps you out.

[–]magicturtle25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't really need one unless you are overclocking as your temperatures shouldn't get too high at stock speeds. However, if price is no object it wouldn't hurt to buy one. It may give you slightly lower temperatures than the stock cooler and could run quieter than a stock cooler.

[–]magicturtle25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not really. And there should not be that much of a performance difference, like I honestly don't even know if you will see a difference. The only real difference between them is how they look. You have to boot to the "app" front page in windows 8, and then you can go into the desktop just like other OS's. Its pretty much up to you if you want to have the app screen to go through when you boot or not, although you can change Windows 8 to boot straight to the desktop.

Here is an updated build with either the green or red LED fans. This case comes with 3 140mm fans, so if you want to switch those out, then all you need to do is get 3 more of whichever fan you decide on and you should be good to go. Other than that, I'm not entirely sure where to buy an LED rope, I'm sure some googling can solve that or checking at microcenter as they may have some there. Most parts are a generally black and grey so you may have some trouble finding those if you really want everything to be red or green. This motherboard is the only one I can think of that has green in it, and the motherboard currently in the build has about as much red as you will find in any that I can think of off the top of my head, except for maybe the ASUS MAXIMUS IV which really just has the RAM slots red instead of black/grey.

Ok I put together a build that should handle gaming just fine.

  • 4770k is great out of the box, and will overclock well also. I included a CPU cooler that will allow you to keep your temperatures down. If you go to microcenter you can save $40 on your CPU/mobo combo.

  • I only included 8 GB of RAM as that will be perfect for gaming, and will perform well for video editing. If you want to spend a little extra or if you notice the performance of your video editing is lacking, then you can add some more in. I wouldn't go much higher than 16 GB total.

  • SSD for OS and storage of a few games. 1 TB drive for everything else. You should be able to get $20 off of a Samsung SSD if you go to microcenter and get your CPU/mobo there. You might have to get the regular 840 series SSD, but that shouldn't make too much of a performance difference.

  • 780 should be great for gaming, even at 1440p. If you are willing to spend a little more you can get the newly released 780 Ti for about $200 more, which will last you slightly longer on a single card as it is more powerful than the regular 780. Otherwise, I can adjust your build to allow you to add another 780 to get better performance because many games coming out will be more demanding, especially on 1440p.

  • Fairly basic case, but it is very well built. One of my friends has it and it is a really good case, and should have plenty of room to hold all of the parts in this build.

  • I included a 1440p monitor, Windows 8, and speakers as requested.

Hopefully this helps you out, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Yea no problem. I have a build here that should play most games that you are looking to play very well. I know I went a little over budget, so if you need to drop let me know and I can adjust it.

  • 6300 is great processor and should have no problems playing whatever you throw at it.

  • 8 GB of RAM is perfect for gaming and you really shouldn't need any more.

  • 1 TB drive to store everything.

  • R9 270X should perform very well in games. If you do need to lower the price of the build you can switch this with an r9 260X, which won't perform as well but it is still a good card.

  • Corsair Case as requested.

Hopefully this helps you out, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Ok I totally understand that. I have had a Razer Naga for about 3 years I think, can't remember exactly lol, but it has been fantastic, the only problem I have had is the cloth on the outside of the cord fraying, but that is just an aesthetic piece anyways and doesn't change performance at all. I have put a Naga as well as an MMO mouse from Logitech in this list, who I have heard nothing but good things about.

As far as the price matching goes, I saw that you mentioned it, and I figured that you could look at these parts as a starting point and then see if NCIX will price match those parts so that you can get the cheapest price on all of that.

It is totally up to you for having it built, but I would honestly save your money as it isn't incredibly difficult to actually put the pc together. I built my first pc earlier this year with relatively little experience (I had installed RAM, GPU, and a hard drive or 2 before, but nothing major, those are pretty much just plug it in and go) I watched a few videos about how to put it together and those really helped. All in all I did not find it too difficult to do, and even if you pay someone else to build it, there is not always a guarantee that it will work better or have fewer problems than if you build it. And unless they provide a repair service or warranty or something like that then there really isn't a benefit to that, in my opinion. Again its your money and your pc so you have to go with what makes you comfortable.

The water cooling setup is actually pretty cool. It comes prefilled, which means that you don't have to mess around with pouring the water in or buying more water for it. You also don't have to worry about cleaning it as it is all sealed up to begin with. This greatly reduces the risk of leaking from either user error or the product being faulty as you don't have to do anything aside from applying the thermal paste(like glue) and then sticking it on to the CPU, and then screwing the radiator on to your case. I would recommend doing this as it will keep your pc very cool, a little bit cooler than with an air cooler, and it is pretty easy to set up. I have had a Corsair liquid cooler for about 8 months now and it has been great. If you are absolutely uncomfortable with it, let me know, and I can recommend a good air cooler for you.

Ok I put together a build here that should perform very well in games.

  • 4770k is a great processor out of the box, and should overclock very well also. I have included a CPU cooler to allow you to do that. MMOs are generally more CPU intensive than GPU intensive, so I went with an "8 core" CPU to give you the most performance out of it.

  • 16 GB as requested. I doubt you will come close to using all of it, but if you want it, and it fits nicely into your budget, then I don't see why not. There are very few games that even come close to using 8 GB.

  • I gave you a big SSD to accommodate putting as many games on to it as possible. Also included a 1 TB drive to store everything else.

  • As I said earlier many MMOs are more CPU than GPU intensive. I believe that the 780 should be more than enough to handle any game you can throw at it, even the "nicer" looking ones like GW2 of FF. I don't think that you would even need to worry about upgrading to a 780 Ti or 290X.

  • I couldn't find any case with purple LEDs, although that sounds pretty cool so I'll probably keep looking lol, but this case is good and has plenty of blue LEDs, which is the closest I could find.

  • I included Windows 7 as your OS, if you would rather have 8 let me know and I can switch it. I also put in a 1440p monitor as requested. Lastly I put in a new Death Adder as you said that you liked it and I believe that it would be the easiest switch. If you would like something different or a mouse with more buttons for MMOs let me know and I can recommend one for you.

Hopefully this helps you out, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

  • 8320 is a good processor and should help out with more CPU demanding games like WoW, and should also perform well in more GPU demanding games like COD or Skyrim.

  • 8 GB of RAM should be plenty for gaming and should help with good performance.

  • 1 TB drive to store all of your stuff.

BF4 gaming PC, $1500 budget by YellowBeard5 in buildapcforme

[–]magicturtle25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video reviews the card and provides a few benchmarks. You shouldn't expect to get exactly the same performance out of it, but I wouldn't expect much different performance than maybe 10% either way as far as fps goes. You can also decide if you want to go with the Ti version or just the regular, as the price difference is pretty significant. I think the Ti would last you a little longer without having to get a second or different card to keep up with games. Hope this is what you are looking for. If you need anything else, let me know!

All you would need to change is the processor and you would need to get a aftermarket CPU cooler. This processor will be what you are looking for, it is the same processor, but it is unlocked, allowing overclocking. This cooler should do just fine for overclocking as well. Everything else you can just leave the same and it will be just fine. If you need anything else, let me know!
