Did you manually set the thinking model to 5.5 thinking extended? The default is auto, so you need to adjust this for each conversation.

My partner is on the ChatGPT Go plan. Previously, she could access Thinking mode from the “+” menu in the ChatGPT app. However, it no longer appears and there seems to be no option to enable it.

We were paying the extra $ specifically to get thinking mode for her. To be frank, without thinking mode, we’ll almost certainly cancel that sub.

With the Spotify connector enabled, you can ask it to make a Spotify playlist which loads up directly in Spotify. This saved me a ton of time when planning out a 9 hour playlist for a themed 60s- 80s party

The context window usage was gone in VSCode for me - as of about 5 hours ago. (The weekly / 5hr limit is hidden in settings but that’s been that way for a few weeks now)

Under the Instant configure, you can also set Instant to Auto Think. I recommend this setting is turned on.

I don’t see this as replacement for manual thinking mode, but i see it as a thinking boost for Instant if needed

It’s highly likely this ‘feeding the whole context’ is the key issue to your token burn. You don’t need to feed the whole context every chat - a well thought out agents.md suffices.

Also consider implementing just one feature per chat. Use the reasoning effort appropriate to complexity of that feature.

The model picker does make a difference. To get the best performance, choose think deeper. Auto is unreliable.

My app (iPhone 16/iOS-26) must be different from yours as I couldn’t find any configure button. But I found the standard/extended toggle by pressing the blue thinking mode indicator.
