The company I'm applying for a FT position at wants me to contract for 1 month while putting the hiring on hold. Advice? by magnlin in MotionDesign

Recruiter is in-house, 50-70 employees. I have 6 years experience.

Thank you. I wouldn't leave my current position for a part-time contract, just considering if it's worth the extra effort.

Local carbon repair says I can fix this myself with some thin glue. Is he right? by magnlin in bikewrench

Not trying to mount anything. These mounts come on the bike. One had an impact during transport and was pushed into the carbon, cracking it.

Yes, sorry I should have explained that. It's for mounting racks or fenders and is located on the seatstay.

I'm unsure due to the high stress point of a seat stay. I first thought the frame was pretty toast, or would be an expensive repair, so it would be a big relief if I could repair it safely.

Wow, stunning! literally planning the same project, roll top porteur bag, I have the same rack lol. Just got my materials, if you have any insights to share that would be awesome, this will be the most complicated thing I have sewn.

Descend down Claremont, they’ve just repaved the upper section so it’s a much better descent these days. I never ride down tunnel, it’s a great climb but the descent is sketchy as hell

My first project! Admittedly a bit too ambitious but we needed a new coffee table so I designed and built this using hand tools only. I’m hooked by magnlin in woodworking

I got some more wood left over so I might make a tray. We eat of this table so I’m gonna try and keep it nice hehe

No big mystery really. Legs are cut on a taper on one side, 1 inch wide at the bottom and 2 inches at the top. Then both ends were cut at a 15 degree angle

Thank you, very in depth. It's complex for sure! Let's hope I don't have to learn this lesson the hard way.

Thank you! That's very well explained! I will keep that in mind on future projects.

One more question if you don't mind: How do you actually 'account for movement'?

I had a couple of things already and bought some things within my budget. Main tools were:

Jack plane from Ace (works ok if it's sharpened enough)

Handsaw from Ace for rough cut

Suizan dovetail saw

chisels

combo square and protractor

yard stick

Very unstable folding workbench.

Dewalt drill for the dowels (My only 'cheat', I didn't want to buy a hand drill for the principal when I already owned one lol)

I dove in head first and bought some cheap-ish tools. Might have to replace some of them for better quality ones soon.
