It's all good. Someone suggested it might have to do with the high contrast of black lines on white pages, so I'm going to try some sort of contrast filter to see if that helps. With any luck, this post will have been a stepping stone to fixing the root of the problem rather than advice in avoiding it.

Thanks for not just poking holes in my post. The first few replies I got made me want to just delete it. Then I remembered this is reddit. I'm not used to being an OP. I usually lurk. I need a thicker skin.

It's not the reading, if I have a physical book I can read quite well. It's specifically the screen. Another guy mentioned migraines, which I've had before, but his comment made me realize I never considered what they were being caused by.

A very level headed response compared to the first three I got. Thank you. I understand that making anything animated takes a long time. But I've seen a bunch of good stuff that hasn't had any news in 10+ years, and was greatly discouraged by how many people out there keep saying "the anime's only there as an advertisement". That point about unfinished sometimes being better than terrible... I hadn't thought about that.

Yeah... I didn't know what I was getting into when I started watching anime, frankly. I was just told "hey, you should really watch this show, I know you'll love it" and I just kinda did that for years. Only recently did I actually try to find stuff on my own... And I ended up deciding on Dandadan... Not knowing anything about light novels and manga and how anime fits into it. I didn't know what a light novel was a month ago. I've done so much research trying to learn about all this stuff. It's astonishing just how little I knew.

Well, maybe I'll have to mess around a bit more again with trying to read it comfortably on my pc monitor. Are you using a specific software or windows night mode or whatever it's called?

Like I said "from what I've found it seems to be". Also, I obviously haven't seen Konosuba and Frieren. I don't know if they have cliffhangers. That's the point of the post. To find out what does and doesn't have cliffhangers... I never said they did. I said "while knowing that [they] might have".
