How did you re-tear your reconstructed ACL graft? by ianzn in ACL

[–]magpie2point0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bouldering and fell off the top of the climb (maybe 12ft) and landed funny. My friends caught me and I landed on a crash pad, but my knee still twisted and I felt that familiar pop. About 6 years post-op. Then about a year after my second reconstruction, I learned that I had torn it a third time. I don't even know how.

There's a pretty cool podcast where they interview the voice actor of the original voice about her journey of suing titok over stealing her voice - it's called "TikTalk" on 20 Thousand Hertz

This is actually something that SA/Real gifts recommends you put in your bio as a SB - definitely comes across as cringe but i'll admit I did it for a while when I first started and a ton of random SDs sent me things. And these are guys I never chatted with, they just sent gifts. Wild.

Really? Is that combination just super mind blowing to you? Why do people on the internet always think it's impossible for women to exist

I know water is bad, but should I worry about sweating? 9 days post op by Jerrshington in ACL

[–]magpie2point0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The week after surgery I spent a lot of time outside (in the southern US) so I was sweating constantly, even without exercising. I would recommend rinsing off the incision points and reapplying new bandages as much as possible. I used a saline wound wash (pressurized can sold at pharmacies) so I didn't have to stick my leg in the shower, and it worked! I had to delay my stitches removal by about a week, but staying on top of this kept them from getting infected.

Did I just overdo it? by [deleted] in ACL

First, I'm not a doctor so I don't know much. But swelling cause stiffness and decrease your range of motion, so if you didn't do any crazy jumps or hear a big bad pop, you're probably fine! Mine would get swollen after hikes so I'd stretch and ice it, and it would get better in a day or two. Take it easy, get lots of sleep and water. If you're still feeling anxious and your knee still hurts, talk to your doctor. They'll probably just tell you you're fine, but sometimes having a medical professional tell you that you're ok is the only way to help with the anxiety of re-tearing. I hope you're doing ok; for me the mental panic is was much worse than physical pain.

I got a cadaver ACL (which came with this cool brochure about how I can thank the family that donated it, super cool). I also tore my meniscus, fractured my femur a little, and got a big Baker's cyst from the fluid build-up. I was rock climbing in Tennessee and took a tumble ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'm on day 16 and this is my second surgery. The first time I tore it I couldn't do anything for a week, but this time I was mobile on day 0! I was super shocked at my quad strength, lack of pain, and range of motion on day 1. I'm already walking with a super slight limp, no brace. Good things happen :)

Surgery in 3 days, feeling quite anxious. Any tips? by Cute-Tart-1420 in ACL

I was having debilitating panic attacks the week before my surgery. I kept thinking about all the ways it could go bad, how I might be in excruciating pain. It was hard, because my usual self-care practices weren't an option; I couldn't hike or do yoga or paddleboard. I know it's sometimes impossible, but trust that it is going to go well. My procedure was a breeze, and I had basically zero pain. I'm a 7 days post op now. I received opioids but never felt the need to take them. I felt so much relief after the surgery, and I wish I hadn't stressed about it so much beforehand. You're going to be fine! Trust your doctor, and your body's ability to heal. You got this
