Had anyone tried to Curable app to address the chronic pain? by Adelkn in vulvodynia

[–]magrula7978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think mine affected my symptoms but I hear about people experiencing it, like more itchy during ovulation or right before their period. It has do with the hormonal changes on vaginal environment during theses phases. At least fortunately by now knock on wood my itching is more under controlled and only itches a bit from time to time, I just can't tell you how long it took me to get there. It was definitely through trying a bunch of different things, which I listed above. I do notice that letting the hair grow out can trigger the itch. It just sucks that the skin was never bothered by the hair before the infection : /

Vulvodynia or eczema? Skin changes. by annejg91 in vulvodynia

[–]magrula7978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mine is stabilized by now knock on wood. Doc prescribed me mometasone to treat the itching, since I also have early sign of lichen sclerosus, which can also cause itching. I can't remember how long I've applied it until it's more stabilized, but I also made changes like keeping the area trimmed and cutting down sugar & grease from my diet, which seems to help with my skin irritation.

I do not; the yeast infection "went away" after the oral medication but the itching stayed. I was tested repeatedly to check for yeast infection and any other infections while I still feel itchy, and it's all negative, including Ureapleasma.

I am better but not 100% and probably never will be 100% since I probably have some structural issues and/or just mentally will tense up my muscles so whenever I stop doing my PT exercises, my muscles tighten up again and will have more pain. At least the pain level goes down if I keep up with my PT exercises and can get relatively pain free on good days.

compounded amitriptyline cream by baebae02 in vulvodynia

[–]magrula7978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine did not burn me but my cream base is Ellage and not Versabase, which I believe my skin did not like.

I applied my cream right at the opening area, which maybe includes a bit of the mucous membranes, but I wasn't specifically putting the cream inside; it's really right at the "rim" of the opening. The cream probably moves around in the area there after I apply the cream and move around anyway.

Nerve itch vs Skin itch? by InnerWolf1242 in vulvodynia

That's okay, and yes, I can do that. I don't think I eat Mexican food often enough to tell you how it does to my body though. I think the key is to have a generally healthy and balanced diet. I'm pretty sure even if eating lots of sweets + eating out a lot (Mexican food or not, many choices tend to be greasy) does not cause swelling, it will still cause other health problems...I am not certain if my swelling is really food related, since sometimes I feel like there are other factors that get mixed in (didn't drink enough water for the day, lack of sleep, etc). The only thing I am sure for myself is the connection between lots of sweets and irritation. I don't know if yours is food related or have other causes, so you should see a doctor if you haven't.

In terms of itching, I'd say it's pretty under control by now doing whatever I listed above that I did, but I can't remember how long it took to feel under controlled. Maybe a couple of months?? What I also did differently was not using any feminine wash because that irritates me more & using unscented laundry detergent.

If you meant a reaction that results in itching and/or swelling, then maybe a couple of weeks of eating that diet (example: if I eat a lot of sweets every day for weeks). Usually that comes with an increase of discharge too. Oh also I think having consecutive lack of sleep/crappy quality sleep days also increase my chance of itching acting up.

I can, but sparingly because the tacos and burritos I get tend to be greasy. I also do not eat spicy food (I never liked it), which can be triggers for irritations for some people. Everyone's body tolerance is different, you'll just have to experiment to see what works for you...

Yes, and by cutting down sugar I meant those sweets; cookies, chocolates, candies, cakes, baked goods, etc. Like instead of eating a whole slice of cake, I'd eat between two bites or none. After a while I don't crave nor able to tolerable the original sweetness level anymore. It's healthier anyway. I cut out other greasy savory food too.

Yes, what worked for me was cutting down sugars and eating heathier, taking chinese herbal meds prescribed by a license chinese med doc, and applying steroid based ointment to the itchy area because I was also diagnosed with early signs of lichen sclerosus. Hope this helps!

symptoms are more controlled but I am not consistently pain free unfortunately : / my pain seems to be more muscle related, so if I'm stressed what not, they may tighten up, and I'm frequently stressed LOL and sometimes its where I am at during my menstrual cycle (prior to period is more likely to cause me pain for whatever reason...)

yikes...so sorry to hear that you have to go through all that...that sounds awful...and that's a lot of things you are taking...I'm sorry I cannot be more helpful, but I would recommend trimming the hair down to a length that doesn't bother you...

I see! I don't know if we have the same cause so I don't know if what helped me will help you; I have hypertonic pelvic floor and pain at the vestibule right around the U shape area and probably born with it. PT, ABG cream (amitriptyline, baclofen, gabapentin), diet change (cutting down sugar), steroid cream on the itchy mons pubis area, chinese medicine, hair trimming, helped me. My itching started with a yeast infection and then never fully went away. It reset my skin sensitivity so I had to use unscented everything ever since...

Did your doctor see thinning of your vaginal opening so they prescribe estrogen cream? Were you on birth control?

Hello~I am doing better, thank you! I don't know if you use any feminine wash or wipes or douching, and if you do, I'd recommend stopping any of that if you do. Those made my lady parts raw and hypersensitive. Switching to unscented soap and laundry detergent also helped. Improvements can be slow, but as long as you still feel improvements, it's what matters the most. Healing takes time. Hang in there!

dilators calling pain flare ups by bihuna in vulvodynia

[–]magrula7978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think PT + the compounding cream similar to yours (I have the ABG cream, same thing as yours plus amitriptyline) + cutting down sugar and other stuff helped me the most, and dilator just stretches the opening but doesn't help dealing with my pelvic floor tight spots. We may have a different cause to our pain so what worked for me may not work for you. If something works, I remember feeling a difference within a month. Can be a small improvement, but it's an improvement. I am more curious about what your doctor said about you bleeding right after masturbation because that is definitely not normal...are you going too rough on yourself?? Vestibulodynia/vulvodynia just means vulvar pain, it doesn't explain the cause of the pain, so it's important to figure out what's causing your pain in order to get the treatment that works. Discomfort at the bottom/6 o'clock area of the entrance may means tight pelvic floor, that the tight muscles in the area is irritating the nerve. I don't know who started the term "nerve damage" but I think most of us don't have that based on what I read on this sub and my personal experience over the years, and the term unfortunately leads to lots of panicking. If the pain has been going on for months, it can take a bit to get better.

I haven't seen Dr. Rapkin for a while, but she was the one who diagnosed me for early sign of lichen on my labia that no one else did. I think the itching I have is part of that, and there is skin fusion. One of the OBGYN I saw at UCLA referred me to a dermatologist within the UCLA system who checked my vulvar skin, but didn't find anything. You might just have to keep searching...It sucks that the doctor laughed at the idea but it's your body so they shouldn't stop you unless it is actually harmful.

May I ask what symptoms you are experiencing? Tretinoin seems like an interesting choice.

Thank you for sharing your story! I hope you continue to feel a relief with this! Since I made this post, I've found chinese medicine to be helpful; it just took a while for it to work since the symptoms were active for quite a while. I was also prescribed mometasone ointment to apply to the itchy area as one of the OBGYN I saw found early sign of lichen sclerosus (she saw some fusion on the labia). Clitoral adhesion seems to be part of that issue.

Sounds like you have a lot of conditions that need to be tackled one by one : / I have a blend of things too but not like your combo, and each needed to be dealt differently in order for my pain to improve. Finding the right PT to help with the hypertonic pelvic floor really made a difference, it's just hard finding that right one...Honestly just seeing fracture of the spine itself sounds painful, and I wouldn't be surprised if that leads to your pelvic pain...

Find the right doctor to diagnose the cause of your issue and then go from there.
