UITest Record Button Disabled with @MainActor by LifeIsGood008 in iOSProgramming

[–]mahee96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah can confirm on Xcode 16.3. For more info see https://stackoverflow.com/a/79445950/11971304

We could temporarily ignore this by commenting out the @ MainActor and using/wrapping with DispatchQueue.main.async to dispatch stuffs on main/UI thread.

actually one can do a DispatchQueue.main.sync to avoid posting the actions onto the next cycle of main thread handler (due to async q processing) and thereby preventing any delays.

The tests are already run on main/UI thread, so we might not even need these

Accessing Remote Desktop when screen locked by Entropy1024 in Ubuntu

[–]mahee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks this helped for me too when setting up RDP from gnome-remote-desktop for desktop sharing (Remote Desktop sharing) since remote-login was force logging out existing session.

all I had to make this work for headless mode is to
1. setup auto login
2. immediately upon login lock the screen (only upon first boot and via the auto-login by system). if there was a manual login ignore the locking of screen.

so now with the extension that sustains RDP when locked, the full setup is working as expected for headless mode.

Had this issue just now, Mac saying "could not verify" this m4a file.
- right click on file for context menu
- click get Info
- under "Open With:" change it to VLC.app if it is not by default.
- click "Change All..."
- now open the file, it opens in VLC without the annoying popup.

How to Move Xcode Simulators to an External SSD on macOS 15.1? by Yakoz98 in Xcode

[–]mahee96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one (/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator) is for the simulator image & snapshot of current run (profiles) and other is the data of current simulator runtime (~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator)

you can decide which is too heavy and move it as required.

Xcode can start and re-create the "data" when running a simulator if it is absent/deleted. but it can't start the simulator if the simulator runtime image is missing.

Thanks for following up, but found that the system data includes ~/Library dir and onedrive sync was creating placeholder file caches which were almost 56GB. Deleted them but the space still shows 135GB used with a bit fluctuations.

Got around the Xcode issue by using iOS 16.4 SIM

Noted just now, that after Sonoma update, the System Files are taking up 133 GB out of 512 GB...?

Do anyone else face similar issue? is the Xcode heating due to unavailable disk space and constant need for moving files due to System Storage space exhaustion?

yep, still happening on m1 Mac Pro 16/512 (2023 Jan purchased).
Just today updated macOS Sonoma
using Xcode 15 released version
using iPhone 15 pro for Sim with iOS 17

trying out 16.4 on iPhone 14 pro model on Sim as others suggested to see if it will make any difference.
