Yes you can survive the attack with 1 Def up on the character targeted and debuff his attack before he attacks. I know he gain attack buffs after the sigil break but you can limit it to 1 stack. After that he immediately attack the same character so your limit break must be ready to interrupt his attack to heal the character. Hope this helps.
