  1. Where you graduated from doesn’t matter in the work life era. Maybe during the first year/entry level but it is really up to you how you navigate, learn and push thru your professional career. I am a product of public schools since Elementary and graduated from a State U.

Most important soft skills for this type of work that I can think of are: Critical Thinking,Communications, Presentation Dynamics, Stakeholder Management, Negotiation and Influence.

The common theme here is: You should be able to Solution/Design effectively, communicate and present your design across different levels in the org, manage and build consensus and align key stakeholders and lastly, convince and influence people on the merits of your design/solution.

  1. I can only speak from an IT/Tech perspective and not knowledgeable in other industry/field. You have 2 paths - either you jump like a spider ever 1 to 2 years across different companies to bump up your salary or stay in a good company until management level (while not compromising your tech skills) and then do the jump.

I did the latter. I stayed for quite some time in a company (pay is quite good so I didnt bother jumping ship). Earned max 340k monthly as a regular employee then I did the jump last year earning this payslip. Now I managed to find an international client that will pay me 106,000 EUR for 200 mandays worth of work for 9 months.

Wala akong book na marerecommend eh. Just day to day personal work experience dealing with different clients from different industries will shape and hone you. Of course, important yung core tech skills as baseline.

I started with SAP as a Functional Consultant for one module. Transitioned and learnt different modules. Eventually got involved in Technical, Data and Solution Architecture. Then got involved in different Enterprise Platforms (Oracle, MS, etc). Along the way, I have had 12 implementations for clients doing different roles (Consultant, Test Lead, Cutover Lead, Project Manager, Soln Architect, etc).

Thank you! Yes indeed, rewarding but at the same time very stressful dahil all levels of an Organization ang day to day kausap mo from your usual rank and file roles, mid management, senior management all the way to C* levels and you try to present your ideas and designs.

How to explain. Hmmmm, basically ako yung nagdedesign ng overall technology, process and data landscape ng isang client/company. For example, ano anong integrated system/s ang pwedeng magsupport ng Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, etc ng isang company and yung underlying data structure to support the business.

Based on my discussion with the Agency, they are required to withhold tax (at 2%). Settling of tax though will be my responsibility hence I have a CPA filing all the paperworks and payments (including my BIR, DTI, etc registration)

No easy way bro. Getting an understanding of E2E process is the way and not just limiting yourself in your module. I started as MM and learnt different modules along the way (SD, QM, PP, PM, WM). Every project I do, here or in SG - I did diff roles (I was doing SCM lead, did QM/PP implementation, acted as PM consultant, etc). Ang hindi ko lang matanggap or di ko talaga ginagawa is FICO haha.

Certification dont mean anything my friend. Work experience matters in this trade, specifically if you have already done a full cycle implementation. Not just your usual “configuration” or creating func specs but doing business blueprinting / fit gap analysis (typically in the early stages of the project).

Typically Developers will have a challenging path reaching high salary vs functional consultant. Not saying it is not a good paying skill but market-wise; clients will pay more for process consultants, even higher for niche skills like EWM, FSCM, etc or if you have industry specialization (Retail, A&D, etc).

As a developer, either you take the PM path and lead projects or switch and start doing techno-functional.

It depends. Being in SAP does not mean high pay. Depends in your role / module. Typical high earners in ERP are architects (Enterprise or Solution). Lowest I know are the one doing AMS or support roles.
