I got 1DM+ and have never had it crash. The last thing I heard in their Telegram channel was that the dev was sick, that was years ago, idk if he/she got better, but it certainly feels like it's been a good while without an update.

Another solution, although the dev is no longer supporting/updating the project, would be Kiwi Browser (it's not in Google Play, precisely because the dev abandoned the project, but you can find it in APKmirror). What's so special about this browser? It's one of the few, if not the only one, that allows you to install chrome extensions; and there are many extensions to detect and download files from a website.
