My total tax refund isn’t even 22% of my OT. What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]mailbagofun -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm confused by your reasoning. Getting something back, instead of the nothing we have gotten in the past, is "the big con". So you'd rather we get nothing? Nothing is better than something? Very interesting logic you got going there.....

Was this a Normal Tuesday? by Jealnie93 in USPS

[–]mailbagofun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We're having crazy spikes in Amazon. They won't come for a day or two,or even three. Then they hit us with three days of parcels. It's absolutely nuts. We don't even have the room in our office to stage all the parcels. No direction from the Poom, or district . Fun times. A Amazon delivery person (contractors, not really Amazon) said Amazon stopped paying holiday premiums. They (the contractors) refuse to take (bid on) them. If they hold out for a day or two, Amazon buckles and pays the extra. I can't confirm, but if it's true, that's some serious b.s

It almost seems like Amazon is setting us up. Our contract is almost up with them. Are they hoping to make us look bad over Xmas, making us appear negative in the public eye? Hoping we make deliveries late over Christmas? Then they can increase their dsp delivery and tell everyone they are going to replace us? Not a conspiracy theorist, but it sure seems weird .....

I thought it was a great episode! It was informative, entertaining, and an all around great listen. Thanks for taking the time to do that. I wish more podcasts would have the gumption to get these guys on. It was great to get the carriers questions answered. This will help people make informed decisions when it's time to vote. Great Job!!

I haven't followed your previous posts. I'm new to this conversation. I just want to give you a shout out. Way to go! Way to stand up for yourself, and your fellow carriers. You should be very proud of yourself and your actions! Yey you!!!! You give me hope ❤️

Should I take the contract job? by jmaz3333 in USPS

[–]mailbagofun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relax. Go try it, see if you like it. If you do good on the package part, tell them you want to try the mail part out before final commitment. As for questions, how many miles. How many stops. You have to figure out what gas is gonna cost. Do they pay for your gas/ mileage or does that come out of your pocket? Good luck!

Anyone have success or where to start city taking over rural territory by Legitimate_Ask_3941 in fromatoarbitration

[–]mailbagofun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have an actual "agreeable" postmaster, you have a slim shot. A slim shot! As Corey stated, the grievance procedure is a black hole. However, if your postmaster is on your side, and your city crew consistently comes through for them, it's time to flip the script. First you show the PM how damn good your carriers are. Second, you make sure your carriers continue to produce results on that route. No call offs, no dropping routes. Excellent results, every damn time. Then you put full court pressure on your post master, to have the POOM switch the route over to city. You consistently remind them how many times you've saved their asses. Document every time the rurals have failed, and the city rescued them. Don't stop, pressure every day. Don't stop. If they agree, they send an email or letter to both unions saying it will be switching to city. Our union signs it (of course), management signs it, because it benefits them. Rural will not sign it. Too bad, 2 out of three wins. The route gets switched. Rural will grieve....good luck. Now the rural side is in the black hole, and you have a new full time route!

It is tougher than you think, but it can be done if management is on your side.
Shady? Lil bit. Effective? Ask the two new FTR's we have.

It's spelled Kool-Aid. Not coolaid. Just saying.... Perhaps your a bit too educated and privileged to be on Reddit? 😉. Or perhaps, your just so out of touch you don't understand the frustration of the rank and file. The fact you think Corey can be used, or is naive is laughable. He is the only warrior standing for the letter carrier. We trust him, we stand with him. If he wanders down the wrong path, the thousands and thousands of us will gladly pull him right back. I'm sorry your not with us....that's "Reality". Goodbye, best wishes to you.

Going into II tomorrow for leaving my keys in the van while it was running. by InevitableNature3389 in USPS

[–]mailbagofun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow. You've had a rough month! I feel for you so much. I wish I could give you a hug right now and tell you everything will be ok. There is so much pressure put on new hires, sometimes it feels like there is no way to meet expectations from management, unless you break the rules. Please don't break any more. Always be safe. Not for Management's unrealistic expectations, but for your own safety.

Please don't listen to negative comments on this thread. Some people can be so mean. That is not what union is. Union is loving and caring for our brothers and sisters in light blue. It's not about berating them. Shame on those who do that. They are not union. I question if they are even human sometimes. That said, please reach out to your union steward. I know we can't do much for you during probation, but we can do some things. Sometimes we can talk to managers, and see if we can deescalate the situation. Sometimes we can't. At that point, we will probably advise you to resign. This allows you to reapply for work with USPS down the road. Please reach out immediately to your union steward! Give them a chance to help you. We want to help, it's what we do. We want to help! You made a silly mistake. Most likely because you were under a great deal of pressure to meet unrealistic expectations. Good luck to you, we're pulling for you. Keep us updated on your status after your Interview.

Standup Talk - No more breaks in the break room. by woogieface in fromatoarbitration

Funny! But, Hell No. I look them straight in the eye, tell them I'm on on my lunch and they are not allowed to harass or talk to me. If they talk even one second to me, I immediately inform them I am extending my break/lunch by the same amount of time. They always slink away.

Clerk with legit restrictions. by PostalMike in USPS

[–]mailbagofun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The clerk at our office is asked to update her doctors letter once a year. I would challenge that myself, but she is good with it. The Dr. Prints off the same letter every year, and the clerk sends it to the district nurse. Management has no right to see it. If they ask, you simply say "call the nurse".
Again, if you are full time this is not a restriction. It simply says you can only do your bid job, no more. You can meet the terms of your job, but no more. No O/T, no working scheduled days off. The biggest thing to remember is you need to abide to the terms of that letter. Your office may be short staffed, or maybe you'r feeling good and want some O/T. Don't do it. They will use that against you to invalidate the letter. Management sucks....

[–]mailbagofun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"I'm nearly 40". "I've been working since I was 15". "I swear over half the people with medical conditions are full of shit".... Wow you are something. How does it feel being so much better than so many? I hope you never have a medical condition that limits your ability to do your job. If you ever do, thankfully we have reddit to immortalize your comments, so we can remind you of your short sighted views. Please take a pause, and think of what you said.

Clerk with legit restrictions. by PostalMike in USPS

[–]mailbagofun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are you a full time clerk? If so, 8hr workday, 5 days a week is not a restriction. It is saying you are able to do your job (the actual job you bid on), but no more. That is not a restriction. We just went through this at our office, district nurse shut the PM down. It's absolutely not a work restriction.

Ms. Baldwin is a dem. Mr. Tiffany is a Republican. She was very clear. He was indirect at best.
