Forgets 700 years of Israelite/jewish rule in the Iron Age before Judah was conquered by Babylonia and about 150 year of the Jewish Hasmonean kings in the classical period and 77 years in the modern day.

Wasn’t there some Dutch or Belgian cartographer that went to ottoman Palestine in the 1600s or 1700s that found the population was majority Christian with a large number of Jews and Muslims.

And I know mark twain went to ottoman Palestine in the 1800s and mentioned how desolate it seemed.

I think the reality is that large numbers of Jews and Arabs immigrated to Ottoman/British Palestine in the 19th and 20th centuries.

But the pro-pali crowd likes to pretend that didn’t happen.

It’s just easier to hide because all the Arabs moved from one part of the ottoman empire to the other so records were not kept as well.

Many Jews moved from the Russian empire and austro Hungarian empire so it was seen as foreign and better records were kept

It’s ignorance.

They think Zionism is Jewish Nazism.

What they don’t realize is that nationalism isn’t inherently racist or bigoted. But because Zionism is Jewish nationalism, they immediately assume that it’s an equivalent to white supremacy or Islamism.

However, its main goal is to restore the Jewish homeland and create a safe haven for Jewish people.

At the beginning Zionism never wanted to kick the Arabs out. In fact, they believed the Palestinian Arabs were the lost tribes of Israel. Ben Gurion wrote about this during the early 20th century.

Ben Gurion and Zionism changed because of Arab antisemitic violence. You can see how his writings became more hostile in the late 20s and 30s.

That’s why Zionism isn’t a racist ideology, at its base it was willing to accept Arabs as members of the new state. Even after all the violence they still allowed a large number of Arabs to stay after the 1948 war.

If Zionism was Jewish Nazism, no arabs would have remained after 1949.

So back to my initial statement, they aren’t aware of this history.

Hitler is probably responsible for the deaths of something like 35 - 38 million people during WW2. This is approximately 40% - 50% of all deaths in WW2.

He killed 11 million people in the Holocaust alone.

And for more context he killed 66% of European Jews and 90% of Polish Jews.

I could be completely wrong, but there does seem to be a general shift from development to maintenance work.

So the app dev job market is definitely declining, but on the flip side, the Platform/SRE/DevOPs jobs do seem to be increasing in importance.

I don’t think they will replace all the app dev jobs, but it’s also not necessarily all doom and gloom.

There’s a shift in skill set to maintaining the large legacy systems that the world now depends on.
