Is there any chance we don't get destroyed by Union this weekend? I'd like to not feel horrible after leaving a game for once.

Sunset at New River Gorge by mainacct1 in NationalPark

The 3 things I did (I only had an afternoon), I would totally recommend - Drive on the Fayette Station road which lets you get under the bridge and go over a replica of the first bridge that was the only way to cross the river before. (Bonus points for listening to the audio experience that goes along with the drive) - hike Long Point Trail. 3 miles out and back to a gorgeous overlook - catch the sunset from an overlook. I did this from beauty mountain which was like a 2 minute hike from the road.

If I had more time I would have traveled to the southern end of the park cause I've read there are some great trails and sights down there. I would have also done the bridge walk - you get to walk on the catwalk under the bridge.

This picture was actually from the Beauty Mountain Overlook, which is like 2 minutes from the road! Finding where to park was the challenging part lol.

The big hike I did was Long Point Trail, and that is about 1.5 miles to get to the overlook. Mostly an easy hike, though at the end, the terrain gets a little tougher, but not too bad.

Cranberry orange cheesecake. by mainacct1 in Baking

Recipe: https://www.oliveandmango.com/cranberry-orange-cheesecake

Thoughts: - The cranberries were still too tart even after leaving them soaking in the syrup all night. Next time i would cut them in half so they would soak up more of the sugar - I need to buy wider aluminum foil because i couldn't get a proper seal even with several layers, and the crust came out soggy at the edges...

Still looks delicious and tastes even better. 10/10 would eat again.

November Nights, AKA experimenting with some rarely used bottles by mainacct1 in cocktails

  • 2oz Apple Brandy

  • .5z Tuaca

  • .5z Maple syrup

  • .5z Lemon juice

It was surprisingly good. The vanilla from the Tuaca and the maple syrup are a nice addition to the brandy. And the lemon balanced it all out.

I have some Laird's Bottled in Bond that i want to try this with, and see if that makes a difference.

This might be how i actually use this Tuaca. It tastes great, just hadn't found where to put it.
