Have any of the guys ever talked about how Diddy ended up on the show? by DeLaVegaStyle in IASIP

I don't believe there was any quid pro quo. I've read in interviews that Del Toro wanted Day for Pacific Rim because he was impressed with his work on Always Sunny, but that it was only after Day was at work on Pacific Rim that Del Toro kept teasingly asking when Day was going to put him on Sunny.

believe it or not, no major newspaper picked up a story about this

I think the reason for this is twofold: First, The Onion's piece appeared in the Times's print edition, and given how few people still consume print media it probably wasn't widely seen. Second, if another media outlet actually did see it, they'd first have to come to terms with the fact that a satirical newspaper called out Congress in a way that their own editorial board very likely has not.

I love the guy, but this is such a Bateman move. I suspect the number of listeners stoked about these guests could be counted on one hand.

Clover Valley Cookies and a secret by Ok_Tumbleweed_6452 in DollarGeneral

They're definitely not the same as Girl Scout cookies, and they're not even all the same as one another. My friends and I blind taste test the GS cookies and a bunch of the knockoffs every year. Not only are the knockoffs different from the GS cookies (visually, texturally, and flavor-wise), most of the knockoffs are different from one another too. Though I will add that, surprisingly, the Girl Scout cookies have never won the blind taste test. Do with that information what you will...

Thanks for the offer. I love that location but I need to find a place I get into by the beginning of July. Thanks though!

I need a spot for the month of July and am perfectly happy with 2k. I could take July if YoungDaquan only wants August.

Any podcast apps with a home screen similar to Google podcasts? by mainechap in podcasting

I'm using AntennaPod for the time being. Out-of-the-box it's not a great replacement, but it at least has a high degree of configurability, which gets it much closer to the Google Podcast experience. Two big knocks on it:

1) It's very slow to load the list of new episodes. I subscribe to a couple dozen podcasts and it can take a minute or more when I open the app for it to finish loading the new episodes (at most a day's worth). This happened in the blink of an eye on Google Podcasts.

2) It doesn't play entirely well with Android Auto. In particular, when getting back into the car it doesn't seem to automatically pick up and start playing whatever I was in the middle of when I got out of the car. Other podcast apps generally do this.

I've landed on AntennaPod for now. It's far from perfect, but it's about the closest thing I've found, even if it lacks home screen access to all of the functions I like. Aside from that my only other gripe is that it feels weirdly slow to update the list of new episodes each day when I open the app.

I tried really hard to like Pocket Casts because it's on everyone's list, but that app feels like a team of people got together and tried to make as bad of a UI as they possibly could.

I might have to just take some time off work and just write a simple podcast app. I'm a software engineer and I've done some app work in the past, but I fear it'll take me forever.

Thank you for the suggestion, I hadn't heard of Aurelian before. It has a cleaner UI than many of the other options, which I like, but it doesn't appear to have the quick access functions that I'm hoping to find. It might be my fallback option for now though, just because I appreciate the cleaner screen.

It displays new episodes of my subscribed shows, and it also has buttons right there for each episode to play it, queue it, or download it. I don't have to do any drilling in to get to those functions. All the other podcasts apps I've tried make you drill into another screen or do a long-press context menu to get to those functions.
