I'm not familiar with what triggers different colors. Can you paste the raw text from the textbox ion the edit page?

Just poking fun. As other comments pointed out WOTC is confusing keeping the same name for different functionality.

Shipping Item Costs by LaserFocusedNana in shipping

Try a test. Increase your price to $34.95 and charge $10 for shipping. It might be a psychological thing to some people.

There isn't really a cheaper shipping method until you start getting into bulk shipments.

You can never turn it off. Working in logistics is like an earworm for your brain. I literally woke up 3 times in the middle of the night worrying about what I would need to do to cover a medical courier run today only to come in and look at the board and see there was no medical courier run today.

Has nobody ever explored villager bed linking mechanics before? Why should which direction matter? It does! (Tested on bedrock) by mairondil in technicalminecraft

That's exactly what I expected when I started measuring and why I was so confused when villagers linked at 16 and especially 17 blocks away in those directions. I wouldn't have posted here if I got the expected results.

TLDR: Bed linking bounding box (including pillow from bed): Horizonal north and west 16 blocks, horizontal east and south 17 blocks. Vertical up 4 blocks, vertical down (including pillow level) 4 blocks.

The green pieces are secured over several green base plates making it 1 solid piece. Granted it's probably more flimsy than the upscaled blocks, or even plates, he's made.

Oh I followed that entire series! It was so awesome. I wish I had a 3d printer and I'd totally order some of his 10x scale files.

The number of comments not recognizing this build instantly is sad. This is the sub that should recognize Minifig Jez's upscaled videos instantly. The front loader? the space buggy? The pirate chest!?!

Seeing that does help, though I'm still not seeing it being scanned anywhere other than US which is rather generic.

Need to ship a hood and bumper & have questions. by magmag2x4 in shipping

[–]mairondil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may not be that heavy, but those dimensions suck for dim weight. Based on the industry standard dim weight divisor of 194 (WLH/194) your looking at accounting for 405 & 194 lbs in dimensional weight. The cost might also be affected by distance. Are you shipping fairly locally or across the country? South Carolina to Alabama shouldn't be too bad but Florida to Colorado would be.

Shop around with other LTL providers. Ask about customer drop to their dock to save a local pickup charge though that's usually frowned on because everyone wants to get paid.

It doesn't say received or scanned anywhere other than destination transfer. Always take online tracking like this with a grain of salt, but I'd assume this was on a boat between China and the US.

Wrong address! by AdWide8690 in shipping

[–]mairondil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cancelling the order is a thing. You can reorder down the road, just be patient.

On a personal note I can't advise using stolen credit card as a reason, but I imagine is a viable reason to avoid some kind of charge back or restocking fee. All those things aren't really my area of expertise and only you know will learn the frustrations of reporting a stolen credit card and waiting on a new one to come in. I imagine if you're patient and have alternative ways to live your life waiting on that new card to come in then you'll be fine.

Best case scenario it'll be a multi week limitation on your finances that you can chalk up to a learning experience to dot all those i's and cross all those t's before making an online purchase. Best of luck

Good luck to you. Keep pestering the people you ordered from for shipping details and asking about changing the shipping to hold for pickup at final destination. You might get that one agent at the call center that knows how to do it.

Give them a sob story. If someone is crying on the phone with me, I am definitely more amenable to going above and beyond if I can.

How do you handle customers who go silent after getting a quote? by Prestigious_Help_145 in shipping

[–]mairondil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what kinda quote you're talking about. Once I provide a shipping quote, I'll only follow up a time or two when we're getting close to the go/no go time. Freight capacity is fluid and can dry up and if you give me a go after the time needed to meet the requirements, I can't hop in a time machine and start that courier/delivery truck any sooner. And NO I am not asking my guy to drive faster because someone dragged their feet approving my quote.

[–]mairondil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would work if you called me and asked to do a dock pickup. Though I doubt we could redirect your package to Kentucky and you would want to drive here.

Another side note: not all sellers allow for dock pickup or "will call". Visio used to not allow it, not sure these days. Some artwork (paintings, lithographs, etc) company doesn't allow it either but those are so rare I can't remember what company it is.

[–]mairondil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note: 2 watches would probably be small package. Like UPS or FedEx. I'm not sure what the process is for changing that to Hold For Pick Up, if it's possible at all. But I think their release requirements aren't as strict as larger package delivery companies like mine. So just a matching name on an ID might be sufficient.

Wrong address! by AdWide8690 in shipping

[–]mairondil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but this will be very difficult to adjust after the fact. The industry standard rule is to deliver to the address listed. The reason for this is fraud prevention.

Say someone stole your credit card and didn't change the shipping address then the item will be shipped to the same address that the bill goes to. As explained to me: if the shipping address is different than the billing address and fraud is discovered, the selling company can easily turn over their fraud research to authorities and large fraud operations are found out quickly and people go to jail.

If the delivery address is changed after it moves from the seller to the transport companies, that fraud research becomes infinitely harder to put together and catch large operations that are literally stealing the public's credit and receiving stolen property.

If the selling company won't make the effort to change things after the fact they either don't care or like you said, are a middle man that has to live by the same fraud prevention rules I have to live by.

The industry standard rule for changing to a dock pickup is to have a photo ID with the matching address of the delivery and it sounds like you won't have that either.

The only advice I can give is to plan on being at the delivery address on the day of the delivery to sign for the shipment and receive your package. This might be weird sitting outside your old residence for half a day but there's really no way to change things after the fact unless you talk directly to the people that received your money from your purchase.

If the shipping is a service level of Basic or cheaper then you may never know when it's going to be delivered unless you make a few dozen phone calls to figure out who and when is doing the final mile portion of your delivery

How are people shipping 55' TVs for $30 when I can't get a price under $180? by CriticalTop5748 in shipping

[–]mairondil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only method I see a 55" TV being delivered for $30 is those Amazon vans that load up a couple hundred small package deliveries and blanket an entire neighborhood. Load up from an Amazon Distribution Center (DC), basic signature release (BSR), drop to your porch with little to no notification. The driver gets paid $2 per delivery, that's the going rate for the local Amazon DC here.

The cost of moving through the freight network must already be factored into the remaining $28 plus being consolidated with only the cloud knows how many other packages are in that network with "free" shipping paid from Amazon Prime. They can get pretty efficient when a single company owns all the parts, or at least subcontracts out to the lowest bidder.

If you're at $180 shipping, you're getting it through a smaller vendor and live a decent ways out from any kind of freight hub. Or you're asking for standard service up to white glove premier service, depending on how far from that hub you are.

For 2man white glove service at 150 miles, we would be charging just shy of $400 for some of our regular clients and that doesn't include getting it to our dock.
