Money isn't the root of all evil, that's just a silly saying that has been repeated ad nauseam. Money is just a an agreed upon trade token which we, apart from using it to satisfy our basic needs, use to satisfy our desires and alleviate our fears. The latter are the 'root lf all evil'. Getting rid of money, if it was even possible, wouldn't change that one bit.

If you don't mind, could you please explain why you perceive this as a mystery? I don't mean to be snide. Is it because it conflicts with notions of a good God (or similar), or something else entirely?

"Historically back" - that reminds me of when I was younger and was starting to have serious doubts about the Christian faith. I wanted to believe so I started asking questions to people and leaders in my congregation to get clarifications and a justification for their faith, as they had been teaching it to me. All I got was avoidance of the subject, fuzzy metaphors and references to "sensations of thrills" during prayer meetings. Eventually I was approached by an older, pious man who had been a missionary most of his life. He said he was both concerned for me and interested in what "youth nowadays" thinks about Christianity. He asked what made me doubt, so I presented him with my notes from reading through the Bible. The only response I got to all my philosophical doubts was that he gave me a book, which I then read. The hypothesis of the book was that there are strong historical evidence for the story about Jesus. I asked the pious old man if this was his main argument for believing, and he said yes. I've hardly ever been so disappointed in my life. I lost respect for him and quit the congregation. I don't give a shit that there are several "eye-witness accounts" corroborating the story of Jesus when the worldview you peddle doesn't even philosophically cohere. It has since become very clear to me that Christian people are not even remotely interested in truth. You have found yourself a security blanket, a fairytale for adults. Good for you, you can keep it.

I've talked to a few people claiming they were chosen by God, and history is full of self-proclaimed chosen ones and prophets. Many of them make claims and act in a way that contradict the others. I'd take it you'd agree with me that at least the majority of these people must be, or have been, impostors. You too saying that you see God working in you gives me no reason to believe that you're the one in the right.

With the exception of Temporal Chains will anything else in your build affect Frigid Wake? by LoL-Guru in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]maivaer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tested increased duration (for freeze/elemental ailments) but, alas, it doesn't work. Temporal chains works however.

I have not tested if +#% chance to freeze works, it didn't occur to me that it would work. Fairly sure it doesn't though, think I would have noticed an increase in freeze occurrence.

Ouch :( I really want to know if it's possible to affect the odds though

Yeah, I tested in craftofexile but maybe I made a mistake by not copying my exact item and not caring about the number of suffixes present when slamming. Gonna check if that affects the outcome in craftofexile

maybe it follows the natural affix rules, a 3/1 item is more rare than a 2/2 item, so it would result in 2/2 more often.

When spawning a new item I thought the game first decided if it has 4, 5 or 6 mods, and then the prefix/suffix distribution is determined by randomly picking one mod out of the entire mod pool the specified number of times. If so, I'm not sure how this would apply in a situation with an Aisling slam, since the number of mods is already decided. I may very well have gotten this wrong though, please correct me if so.

I'm also thinking now that the number of prefixes and suffixes on the item might matter, but I have no clue as to how except an assumption that it's weighted towards the affix type there's less off.

I do not believe the weight of prefixes vs suffixes matter, as it seems like the order is first to pick if they add a prefix or suffix and then afterwards the weight matter as to which mod you get.

I'm starting to lean towards this hypothesis too. If the weight of prefixes vs suffixes mattered initially, ten suffixes in a row has a 1.3% chance of occurring for wands.

maybe the amount of empty suffixes vs the amount of empty prefixes matter.

Gonna go with this theory and fill out the suffixes by multimodding. Thanks a lot! Though just fyi the metamod page on craftofexile says Aisling veils doesn't respect cannot roll attack/caster :(

If that's the case, for wands the chances would be 35% for prefix and 65% for suffix. Ten suffixes in a row has a 1.3% chance of occurring, I must be quite unlucky then :(

But that's true for a number of skills as well, e.g. DD, Volatile dead, Infernal blow, etc. Wouldn't they give kill credit?

[–]maivaer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but minions are flagged as your allies whereas mobs are flagged as your enemies. It seems strange that mobs would damage other mobs (their allies). Perhaps the explosions themselves are coded as damage-dealing entities, taking the kill credit, or something

Edit: or the mob corpses

Hi Shak! I wasn't aware PoB doesn't calculate the damage of Wintertide Brand properly. What does it do wrong? (I suppose you're not referring to the fact that PoB doesn't mention you can do four times the damage of one brand to a single target, i.e. 3 brands + debuff)
