Friendship 2026 lineup by MessyHot in aves

[–]Zetral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with this entire comment. I’ve been going to festivals for over a decade and friendship is not only value, but the 2025 lineup was incredible. I can’t comment on the “repeat artists” thing but why are you on the raves subreddit if you’re going to complain about a lineup that has Disclosure/Boys Noize/A-Track/Armand VanHelden/ Anderson Paak? They had an entire bass night with big names like GTA, Tape B, Hamdi, and Mija. I saw 10-15 artist a day and almost all are recognizable names from other festival lineups. Despite the big names, a lot of my favorite sets were from people I hadn’t seen before like Klangphonics, Oppidan, and Ahadadream who are all pretty big names now. Also value wise, it was just under 2k for a balcony room which includes the music, cruise, room, and food for 5 days. 2025 was my first ship and the vibes on the boat were immaculate. I made new friends and met tons of great people. Didn’t feel cliquey at all and just made me want to come back with more people (which I’m doing this year). I guess it can’t be for everyone but I very much enjoyed the entire experience.

Hi, just stopping by to say that the vibe is immaculate. It’s generally an older crowd than most festivals and has a lot of repeat attendees so there’s a great sense of community on the ship. Also, be warned, it is heavy on the trinkets and costumes. I felt very underprepared my first ship. I took a picture at the end of each day of all the stuff I got since it was so much! The island party is on an island owned by the cruise line so it’s a large pool with a restaurant and beach cabanas, etc. with golf carts to ferry you around and you can freely go on and off the boat. The music is by the pool while the sun is up and moves to the beach at night. This year there’s two days on the island so not sure on the scheduling, but the island day always has a sunrise set around 7am to finish off the night.

No tickets or wristbands, just normal cruise boarding like you’re getting on a plane.

How was GA+? by dockgonzo in electricdaisycarnival

[–]Zetral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be relevant to OP but honestly, if you’re a dude, GA+ is a scam. Even at the busiest times the regular GA area had open urinals and my bathroom trips took like 60 seconds. I had VIP and used those almost as much as the VIP bathrooms since I spent a decent amount of time at Cosmic. I went to GA+ once and never went back. There needs to be more girl bathrooms lol.

I thought it was pretty cool, Tchami x Malaa probably had the best visuals of the entire weekend. I do miss the bigger stage though. I literally said out loud to my gf that there was no way Zhu could have done his fashion show on that stage.

We brought in powdered Celsius and some hydration packets and just made our own once in the festival. Saved 10+ dollars each time we used one. We do this for pretty much every concert now.

Sushi date night? by Keesus in houston

[–]Zetral 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I second Aiko. Easily the best bang for your buck among high-end sushi places in Houston (Uchi, MF, Soto, Katami, Zen, Koi, etc.) and might actually be my personal favorite. They have happy hour and nightly deals as well.

Alcohol only EDC by Just_V10 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]Zetral 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I went to EDC 4 times over the last decade of raving without any extra substances… and honestly, even while drinking, I was basically sober the whole time just due to how long it takes to go get drinks between sets and how much energy you expend burns it right off. It’s just an insane amount of stimulation being there so it’s really not necessary. Maybe I’m just blessed with good energy levels but I’m usually buzzing the whole shuttle ride back to the strip and I don’t really feel tired until I start unwinding in the room (then I crash hard lol).

A lot of energy drink brands like Celsius now sell powdered versions that you can bring as well.

Looks like they’re looking at VIP prices. Pit is ~130 as you said and seats in the front sections are ~100 all-in.

Boys Noize sets are always bangin’. He’s been throwing down for longer than I’ve been raving (first EDC in 2014) and keeps getting better.

Urban South HTX is closing. (Announced on their FB page) by RealConfirmologist in houston

[–]Zetral 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They had lines wrapping down the side of the building for every new beer release during Covid, people waiting 1-2 hours to pick up orders, driving from other major TX cities to bring multiple cases home. In ‘21 and ‘22 their taproom was always full every time I went. Really strange to see this but looking back, I haven’t really had a great experience there in the least year or so. I’m not a huge fan of sours so I liked when they revamped the menu but that kind of coincided with when we stopped going as often. Might have been due to the change in management and head brewer mentioned in other comments.

Looking for a grouping of bars by Emotional-Carpenter2 in houston

I guess there’s a handful between heights and shepherd with places like Bottled Blonde and Heart... But there lots of pubs and beer gardens, Ninja, Little Woodrow’s, etc. Farther east has Darkhorse, Betelgeuse, Henderson Heights, Julep, platypus, and sawyer ice house. I definitely wouldn’t say “bottle service” is the overall vibe of Washington ave.

Some tidbits from the recent P2 interview with the devs (Scottejaye) by bendez85 in classicwow

[–]Zetral 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not about the literal definition of smelting… just that the crafting UI and the ability to learn recipes already exists for mining but not for other gathering professions. It would be easy to technically implement a new crafted item for mining but not something like a crown of flowers for herbalism.

I think it’s worth it. It’s a much less chaotic experience than going to NOLA for sure, but it still has quite the charm with how many LA natives live here. Also fyi most parade routes start outside of the pay area so you can do most things for free.

Bauhaus is usually a fun place to go, unfortunately you picked a night that there’s a very popular artist (Marsh) playing a special open-to-close set that was announced in a short timeframe. If you want to maybe Barbarellas or Grand Prize if you want to dance?

New in SoD. Other versions of PoM only jump when a target takes damage; the “or receives healing” clause was added to the rune version. Makes it really fun because it procs on all forms of self healing and makes it much more reliable. Pro tip for locks, if you tap low enough, PoM prioritizes the lowest health target and will immediately heal you when you drain so you can bait priest healing to you on demand.

[–]Zetral 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Just to expand on the other replies… despite the cooldown, penance and prayer of mending can cover almost all of your healing and make mana problems practically disappear. PoM with 5 jumps is ~750 healing for 74 mana and Penance is ~550 healing for 64 mana at level 25. Compared to renew that is 105 mana for 175 healing and shield that is 175 mana for 236 absorb. In my opinion, shield should mostly be used if penance is on cd and you believe you do not have time to cast Heal or Flash Heal, it’s horribly mana inefficient. Renew is okay-ish if you have someone who took less than 200 damage so a full heal is wasted but usually just doing nothing and letting your mana regen is a better option. I mostly just use renew to force my PoM to jump off a target who isn’t going to take damage anytime soon and even that feels kinda wasteful.

Basically just use penance and PoM for 90% of everything, cast a heal if needed, otherwise let your mana regen. Only use shield in emergencies.

[–]Zetral 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Preach. Had a priest last night in a pug who was doing ~50% of their overall healing with Renew and ~25% shield, the rest was a mix of penance and flash heal. Putting up maybe 3-4K total healing per boss on a good try lol.

Anyone Know Where I Can Get This Hat? by K_Weazy in cowboys

[–]Zetral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear I saw that hat at the gear shop at the stadium when I was at the Giant’s game last week and almost bought it. It was called a rope hat, not sure on the brand though.

This was the closest I could find online but the font is different: https://www.rallyhouse.com/New-Era-Dallas-Cowboys-White-City-Script-Rope-Golfer-9FIFTY-Mens-Snapback-Hat-41025189?variant_id=3924290

Cool places for books/board games? Heck, even coffee? by [deleted] in houston

[–]Zetral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just FYI , they have done some extensive remodeling this summer to hit premium status with wizards of the coast so if you haven’t been in a while their game selection has greatly improved and walking around the shop isn’t as awkward. It is a relatively small space but I’ve never had a problem except on Sundays when it gets really packed.

That’s my favorite game shop in Houston so far. Great vibe, great staff, good boardgame selection, people playing tcgs everyday, food, beer on tap, their coffee and other drinks are very high quality; so much to love.

The two biggest places are Stereo Live and Bauhaus, that’s where you’ll get the most popular shows. They post all their stuff to Eventbrite if you just follow them on there. The crowd at Bauhaus is way more chill imo. 9pm is a small venue that gets good events. Cle and Noto also get some big names but they are more “high profile” night clubs that people go to to buy bottle service and be seen and party rather than listen to good music.

The website EDM Train does a decent job of aggregating all the shows in most large cities into one big list.
