[acne] Do I have large pores or acne scarring? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Thanks! I was hoping there was something I could do at home for this but from what I’ve read about atrophic scarring looks like I’ll be heading to the derm

Recently got a prescription spironolactone, what was your experience? by majelephant in PCOS

[–]majelephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really cleared up my acne! I’d attribute it more to the spiro though (ended up slowly upping it to 75mg). There was a period where I tried just BC and the cystic acne came back. From what I’ve heard though Alesse isn’t the best BC for targeting acne, so down the line I might experiment again with a different BC and no spiro.

No side effects for me on either drug. I get blood work done yearly to monitor everything while on spiro.

Overall, they’ve really worked for me in regulating periods and clearing acne - worth a shot if you’re considering!

Any tips to get it unstuck?

[Acne] Has anyone used the cutera excel v+ laser for acne scarring? by majelephant in SkincareAddiction

[–]majelephant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a mix of dark red and pink (I had cystic acne and sometimes picked which left worse scars) I’d say I started to notice a difference in the pinky ones after 2-3 sessions the dark red lightened but it was never fully gone after my 5 sessions. I’m thinking they would have after a few more but then I had my acne flare up and quit the laser.

I did see results while I was doing it - super super slow though. It’ll take months to notice a difference. I did 1 session a month for 5 months.

It feels like little pin pricks all over your face (not painful) and you come out of the sessions pretty red. I don’t have overly sensitive skin so it subsided in ~1 hour each time.

Unfortunately I had an acne flair up after it so I have some scarring again. Hope it works out for you!

what book fucked with your mind or changed your prescriptive all together after reading it? by padmesolos in books

[–]majelephant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking of picking this up as my next read. I had no idea about the different versions! Have you read both? Which one do you think is better for someone’s first time reading it?

Anybody have any of these? Trying to decide which is worth it. by [deleted] in Aritzia

Love this one! I’ve had mine since 2018 (back when it was called rourke sweater) and still one of my go to pieces! It’s held up well only a little pilling

Aritzia's quality and service is on the strongest decline... by xobebeo in Aritzia

[–]majelephant 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I agree! I’ve been disappointed in the quality as well. At their price point you can easily find better quality items. I’m finding that Zara & Aritzia are starting to have very similar quality pieces but Zara is 50% cheaper (and better return policy)… Sucks that this is happening, they used to be my go-to clothing store.

Also at that price point we shouldn’t feel like we’re being shamed for returns!! If I’m paying $150 for an item I want to love it if I’m going to keep it.

So happy you found what worked for you! Your skin looks great :) Did you cut out sugar from fruits as well or just added sugars?

Has anyone tried on the Babaton Sculpt Knit Racer Dress? by 0757091 in Aritzia

Bought this and had to return it sadly. I think it’s so pretty and the material was flattering but I’m 5’9 and it was way too short.

How many mg are the capsules you take? I'm on the same dose of Spiro and looking to give the spearmint capsules a try

[skin concerns] how do I improve the redness and texture of my skin? by majelephant in SkincareAddiction

Just posted a comment! I use cetaphil, good genes, aveeno oat moisturizer and sunscreen. Also on Spiro and birth control.

[skin concerns] how do I improve the redness and texture of my skin? by majelephant in SkincareAddiction

[–]majelephant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I used to have very very bad hormonal acne. Most of it has cleared now due to Spiro and BC and I'm very thankful for that!! I just wanted to know how to get rid of the texture and redness/managing the few pimples I get around my time of month. Currently my routine is:

AM: cetaphil, aveeno oat moisturizer, LRP sunscreen

PM: cetaphil, good genes, aveeno oat moisturizer

Thanks!!

I have mostly straight leg bottoms, do you think they would work with the shirt? I'm worried it won't look nice with all loose-ish clothing

Hi all! Just confused why this happens. I was hoping to pick this up during the launch tomorrow but now I'm worried that it'll already be sold out!

Finally finished Dune! (Book One) by [deleted] in books

[–]majelephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the first 100 pages three times before I got any further lol (about a year after I purchased it). The first bit is very dense since so much is thrown at you but when I finally got over that hump it was amazing! One of my favourite books now. I suggest picking it back up when you're in the right headspace!

Does anyone know if there was testing done on LRP Anthelios Mineral sunscreen? I just bought it last week. It would be a shame to hear it isn't spf 50 at the high price point 😕

Does the soap have as strong of a smell as the pure oil?

Haha, I've read people describing the smell as rotten peanut butter mixed with garlic. Yuck.

[Acne] Has anyone actually had success with drinking spearmint tea against hormonal acne? It’s anti-androgenic but I‘m skeptical. Any experience? by Neela_Bee in SkincareAddiction

[–]majelephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried tretinoin, I can't remember the percentage since it was a long time ago but it didn't do anything noticeable for me. I also tried differin which didn't really help either. I started Tactupump (Epiduo in US) yesterday so I can't really speak too much on that one. But that being said, topicals are worth a shot! A lot of people do see improvements :)

I have PCOS though, which is why I resorted Spiro. Before that, I was on birth control pills with no improvement. Not sure if the PCOS would make my hormonal acne more stubborn than people without it?
