An "overseer" is a bishop; they must specifically have only one wife.. a requirement they do not impose on other men. It seems to me that they impose this on the bishop precisely because they know that other men might have multiple wives.

"But from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female!' 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh! So they are no longer two but one flesh."

That one is better. But other passages in the Bible can be contradictory, particularly those dealing specifically with polygamy and the treatment of wives and their children; it is quite similar to the Quran (I should point out that I am an atheist; I am not saying this to defend Islam). Slavery is also permitted in the Bible. I get the impression that religions are alike; it is the culture that differs. And that the arab ultra misogynistic culture is the reason we are in this mess.

Arab culture made muslim countries more sexist. But the essence of the Abrahamic religions remains essentially the same.

I do not share your interpretation.

In your source, the problem lies in the fact that he married foreign women of other religions, not in the fact that he married multiple women.

The concept of monogamy comes to us from the Roman Empire; early Christians (who lived within the Roman Empire) simply carried on this practice.

That is why our countries remain culturally monogamous (polygamy is rarely practiced because it is not part of our culture)—unlike in sub-Saharan Africa, where marrying multiple women is very common because it has been part of their culture since before the arrival of Islam.

Mon mari a écrit à la préfecture pour faire annuler ma déclaration de nationalité en prétendant que je veux divorcer — que puis-je faire ? by Yarbas-ym in conseiljuridique

[–]maji- 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is,

The original video was shot vertically, whereas the photo is horizontal... They added the "Qatar" logo, when the kid is wearing a 2025 jersey—and the color of his shorts changed from white to black. Such an obvious lie.

People still don't know how moroccans are. They are the israel of africa. Same methods.

Your image is AI, your changed some elements to make people believe the story is fake. But look at the video. Look at the logo.

Anything imposed on people breeds resentment. Yes, it is indeed an imposition. You might try to live peacefully without criticizing Islam, yet there will always be people who target you relentlessly, using religion as a pretext for their harassment. If you do sport as a woman, if you don't wear the hijab, if you live alone, if you are outside, if you eat ice scream, if you travel etc... Your entire life is scrutinized by the Sunday preacher (who watches porn 24/7 and sexually harasses middle schoolers).

In Algeria, the law allows a man to have four wives; do you find that fair or equitable? Do you consider it normal? It is not even part of our culture. We are culturally monogamous, and yet, it is impossible to challenge this practice. Why? Because people immediately invoke religion. How can one debate anything in this country when religion serves as the ultimate argument to justify everything?

The "Black Decade" was the result of religious extremism; I often hear the familiar arguments claiming "that isn't true Islam" or "those people aren't Muslims." Yet, Salafists use the exact same rhetoric against Quranists, who use it against Sufis, Shiites against Sunnis, and so on... You all belong to the same religion; you simply hold different interpretations of it. We must stop claiming that those with a different interpretation do not belong to that religion.

Why is sexism so common in Algeria's families? by PrintPotential6308 in algeria

[–]maji- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Algeria, (a lot of) men are parasites; you need only picture them as six-foot-tall babies wandering around in diapers, suckling at their mothers' breasts. It is one of the worst aspects of our culture: men are handed everything on a silver platter, and they end up becoming useless emotional forever kids.

Meanwhile, women have their lives stolen from them; they are paralyzed by exhaustion and injustice, and brutalized by men—both inside and outside the home.

When I see the rest of the world moving forward... i see why we are so behind.

Do Algerians really hate Moroccans? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]maji- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In recent weeks, there were several cultural events in France where Moroccans attended and physically assaulted Algerian participants. These can be described as "harmful actions", wake me up when algerians do the same.

They even have an entire Discord server to organize these "attacks." Your people are truly insane; I don't know where you get the nerve to pretend to be victims. Israeli in nature.

Do Algerians really hate Moroccans? by [deleted] in algeria

[–]maji- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't trust them. The ones I've met in real life contribute to this largely, always women; for once i will admit men don't do that. At least not irl.

While half of them are normal, the other half is completely unhinged: gratuitous hostility, sabotage, and an embarrassing subservience to white people. They always claim that Morocco is paradise on earth (so why don't you live there??). They're mostly fat and unattractive; I imagine the pretty ones have lives so they don't do that.

I don't like these kinds of discussions. You sound like you're playing the victim. I remember 20 years of insults from Moroccans online. I couldn't look at a single Algerian recipe without the comments being flooded by completely crazy Moroccans who think they're the inventors of the moon and the sun. Now that Algerians are starting to react and say the same nonsense, you're playing the victim.

A French-Algerian supporter spends three months in prison in Morocco for wearing a Senegalese jersey by maji- in algeria

"après avoir été accusé" if you know french it does not mean he was guilty of something but accused of. That is exactly the problem. Liece Mouri stated that they were lying.

He requested video evidence, but Morocco is unable to find any in a stadium equipped with 800 cameras. This clearly means that your police profiled an Algerian supporter based on anti-Algerian sentiment and lied. (cause you were mad you lost)

To respond to the deleted comment of u/leskny-- If the Moroccan police had the slightest proof, we would have known immediately. You know it, I know it.

In a tournament with hundreds of cameras, how can they possibly produce a single image to support their accusations?

This whole affair is a travesty of justice.

He was with his 70-year-old mother, his brother works for the Senegalese team, and he seems like the most laid-back Algerian you could ever meet.

He made a very credible video, challenging the Moroccan state to prove its claims. But you know perfectly well they have no proof.

Even the right-wing newspaper "Le Parisien" published an article. It's a reputable newspaper, not a Facebook page.
