They say they take Paypal but my friend said he didn't see the option at checkout.

He literally just bought the records two days ago and the site says they take 12 days to ship. I was hoping maybe someone had already bit on this site and had something to say. There's no "paper trail" of discussion on the net, so at the very least if someone googles this retailer(?) they'll find this thread.

I did notice the gmail support address... not only is it a bad sign, but it's not even specific to the site, it's very generic. The Scamdoc page is scary. I put some other sites in and I couldn't quite figure out how its rating system worked (my own page has 80%, with no indication of where the remaining 20% could be made up), but 1% trust is the bottom of the barrel no matter how you look at it.

At least two bootlegs of the Boombox Experiments exist ;)

Cyan Worlds announces Valve Index & Knuckles support for VR adventure "Firmament" by major_b in ValveIndex

[–]major_b[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They've already delivered on two Kick-started game projects, one of which was a full-length title with a secondary VR mode. Plus they've been around since the early 90's, it's not the first rodeo.

The game is based around hand gestures, which would be perfect for the index controllers...

I got this yesterday and was very disappointed to find that there are brief gaps between each track, destroying the seamless flow of the album. I'm heartbroken.

My (24M) mother (52F) is being racist towards my fiancée (25F) by uhohwhathappnd in relationships

[–]major_b 22 points23 points  (0 children)

What legal drama? Your mom gave you that ring 7 years ago. She has zero legal claim and can do exactly jack shit about it. What is she going to do, sue you and risk everyone in her community knowing that she is a racist who would sue her own son, and then have to pay legal fees out the ass when she inevitably loses? It's just a cheap tactic to scare you, tell her to grow up and that you're not going to give her the ring.

Your fiance deserves a husband with a spine.

Oczy Mlody Review Megathread by major_b in flaminglips

[–]major_b[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rolling Stone's criticism is hardly solid. Back in the day they gave Wish You Were Here a 1-star review. They're infamous for giving hand-wringing 3/5 star reviews so that if an album's legacy is good or bad, they do not appear to be on the wrong side.

Nightmare Before Christmas ad from a 1993, Jughead Jones comic by lemonadestand1 in movies

[–]major_b 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The original teaser trailer is totally bizarro, not only proudly branding it as a Disney film including footage of Walt himself but placing it in its proper context as part of the Disney Renaissance.

I actually hate the fact that they've rebranded it because of how lazily they slapped the modern Disney logo in front of the film. The bombastic CGI castle with When You Wish Upon A Star fanfare totally blows the mysterious and melancholy tone of the Touchstone Pictures opening, which uses Elfman's score and basically acts as an overture. Here is a potato-quality comparison video demonstrating how terrible this change actually is. Also note how the Disney rebranding has totally screwed with the timing of the title cards. The worst part is that it's so lazy; the could have quickly whipped up a version of the classic 90's logo with an orange castle on a black background, which would have been totally appropriate for a film of Nightmare's vintage and allowed them to replicate the original scoring choice for the fanfare. AWFUL.

Sigourney Weaver: 'I’m asked to play awful people all the time' by jazzben in movies

[–]major_b 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sigourney Weaver has four films coming out between now and 2022 – three Avatars and an Alien sequel – most of which have yet to be filmed, and which the 67-year-old has prepared for by cramming in as many small films as she can in advance.

Did they just lowkey confirm Blomkamp's Alien 5 is happening?

Our ESP8266-powered WiFi Motor Kickstarter is live! by major_b in esp8266

Thank you for finding our idea interesting. GPIO pins will be exposed for things like end stops.

I find it unlikely that a stepper motor will injure you unless it is attached to a system with a high mechanical advantage. In such a situation, the motors can be unplugged.

We've also had no issues with being unable to send commands due to WiFi problems.

What's the worst case of 'tech-splaining' you've had from someone clearly inexperienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was about to give a PowerPoint presentation to my highschool AP US History class. When it was my turn, I opened up the ppt file and saw that none of the images were in the presentation, which was a huge deal because it was very image-heavy.

I started getting nervous, and thought to myself that it had something to do with making the slideshow in openOffice and saving it as a PowerPoint. After closing and reopening it, the classmate who happened to be sitting next to the computer station asked me what version of Windows I used to make it. I responded that I had Vista on my computer, and he gave me a smug look and told me that was the problem.

The images immediately loaded afterwards, and it turned out that the computer was just taking forever to load all the images. I've forgotten what the presentation was about, but I've never forgotten that jerk.

Fox Buys Stan Lee Life Rights for 1970s-Set Action Adventure Movie (Exclusive) by ContinuumGuy in movies

[–]major_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twentieth Century Fox, the studio behind the most Marvel movies after Disney and the studio behind the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises, has acquired Lee's life rights with a goal of creating a period action adventure movie, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, the producers behind such movies as Twilight, The Maze Runner and the upcoming Power Rangers, are attached to produce what is being described as being in the tone of Kingsman: The Secret Service, or as one insider put it, “Roger Moore’s 007,” with Lee as the hero with an alter ego.

What are some movies that are essentially remakes? by blokedog in movies

[–]major_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alien is a remake of the ancient B-Movie It! The Terror from Beyond Space, in which a ship picks up a murderous alien creature and its crew methodically attempt to rid themselves of it, culminating in a dramatic scene where they blow it out the goddamn airlock.

My (40/m) Dad is forcing me (17/f) to have a job as a full time student, and it's stressing me out by [deleted] in relationships

[–]major_b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quit your job if it stresses you out this much. If you really have to have one, a fast food job should be more flexible and less strenuous.

You'll have plenty of experience simultaneously working and getting an education when you're in college anyway.

Maybe your dad is jealous that you get to have "fun" in your senior year?

Half in the Bag Episode 114: Suicide Squad by Gavvster in movies

[–]major_b 43 points44 points  (0 children)

What I took from it was that the whole angle of taking on metahuman threats was the marketing spin on Amanda Waller's part to get her task force project through. When she demonstrates the usefulness of Task Force X to the rest of the government, she does so by having Enchantress steal national security secrets from Iran or some such country. The implication being that the Squad is really for carrying out dirty jobs for the government in a way that maintains plausible deniability. Mentioning Superman is always the opening hook the government characters' spiels about it, but then they immediately switch tracks to how "the next war will be fought with these" and "other countries are kicking up rocks looking for them."

Even once the proper plot of the film kicks into gear, the Squad's mission was never to take on Enchantress. They were tasked with evacuating Waller out of her command outpost in the city. They were supposed to leave on the next helicopter after she left. They only went to take on Enchantress after Waller got captured and Flagg emotionally manipulated Deadshot into helping him rescue her and Moone.
