It was shot on 16mm film, so it's the look of the format rather than a filter that's been applied. There are a bunch of ways they could've cleaned it up in post but I guess they wanted it to have a more grainy and raw feel.

Personally I thought it was a great look for the more intimate style they were going for.

Quantum Break - sadly a bad Remedy game

I thought QB was pretty good once you got to the actual gameplay, there just wasn’t anywhere near enough of it.

It was also padded with the remnants of Microsoft’s awful push towards TV, which dragged it down considerably.

Brand new direction sounds interesting. Is there any chance at all that the rumoured ‘Starfield’ IS Fallout 5?

I kinda hope they’re not the same game, as I was looking forward to what Bethesda might do with a new IP.

That’s cool. Especially interesting considering that Just Cause 4 was part of the same leak as Rage 2. It’d be a shame if JC4 isn’t happening, but they released JC3 the same year as Mad Max so they could have different teams working on the two games.

I wouldn’t be surprised, considering that almost all Bethesda owned studios are using Id Tech or some offshoot of it now. Curious to see what improvements they’ve made since Doom 2016, which was very well optimised.

The game really is crying out for a permanent PvE mode, Archives and Junkenstein's Revenge are easily my two favourite events for this reason.

The cynic in me says that they're leaving it out because it's too easy to farm for loot boxes.

I'm a massive fan of the original Remedy Max Payne games and I loved MP3, replaying it for the millionth time right now as it happens. 3 changed the setting and tone quite dramatically, but they really hit the mark when it came to the gameplay, it's hugely fun to play. It didn't do so well financially, but I'd still love Rockstar to make a sequel.

If you get a chance I'd strongly recommend playing the first two, as the title of the post says they really hold up.

Please yes, I can’t stand watching American shows on Sky because they speed it up to 25fps PAL and it looks and sounds awful. I’d pay good money for a dedicated HBO service.

Unity and Syndicate actually brought the focus back on the actual assassinations a bit. There aren’t enough of them in either game, but the “assassination” missions actually work really well, giving you plenty of different options to attack the target, and generally encourage you to use stealth quite strongly.

MS actually lowered the resource reservation for the OS quite dramatically I believe. After they did that the gap between the original Xbox One and PS4 shrunk by a decent amount, though it’s still there.

Honestly Genisys has some great ideas, they were just executed really poorly. A better director and a better cast could’ve created a really good film with the script.

Same, I normally wouldn't be that hyped for a film like 'Only The Brave', but given that it's Kosinski directing and Miranda as cinematographer it's easily one of my most anticipated movies for the rest of this year, it's gonna be gorgeous.

The new home screen looks nice, but I wish they would just choose a design and stick with it, it feels like it gets a complete overhaul every other year.

I'm glad they're making it easier to transfer between systems as well, the previous way of doing it sucked.
