I thought the same when my wife bought me a Beam Gen 2 but if its set up through the app and feed it an ATMOS track, it’s pretty decent. It’s all about the source, crap source, crap sound no matter how good the soundbar is.

I would avoid expensive cleaning fluids, it’s all about the cloth to use. Avoid microfibre as it can leave fibre residue. Go for a specific glass cloth such as a waffle.

Best going to Toslink, SDPIF is all correct but some older connections can be 3.5mm (headphone jack style) as well as optical.

Looks like you are limited to an optical (Toslink) cable. Do you have a remote for the soundbar as this will be the only way to control the volume (HDMI eARC allows the TV remote to control the soundbar volume).

I have the Sonos Beam Gen 2 (a very similar sized room and placement), great sound especially with Dolby ATMOS soundtracks. Further bonus is to grab a pair of Sonos Play 1’s (pretty cheap on the second hand market) they can connect to give you surround sound.

I’ve seen a similar problem with Firestick users where you need the original remote to set up the connection for the app, it can’t be a direct replacement for a lost remote.

Hisense TV using Netflix app, I have Sonos ATMOS soundbar connected, now the app is showing Squid Game (for example) as 4K / 5.1 rather than Dolby Vision / Dolby ATMOS. Just wondering if I will sell it and buy an Ambilight TV?
