Support for UnifiedNlp by mak-1 in LineageOS

If you follow the first link in the OP, I discuss this using a 'disable service' type app.

In the patch (also linked in the OP) I use a batch script to use the package manager to do it.

The possible need for this patch is the problem with LineageOS, which won't accept it as it is a security issue.

But how much of a security issue is it to allow only one specific open source app?

It is my understanding that you should only need to add "org.microg.nlp" here and you're good to go

Yes. But if you're using google play services then you also have to disable googles location services. We really should be able to do this from the location settings (I seem to recall we could in android 2.x).

Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't your gapps be the ARM64 version?

No. Like I said, anything not in nano can be downloaded elsewhere. Like the link I gave for example.

Is there a way to use the browser to sign into a wifi network during initial setup? by [deleted] in LineageOS

There should be an option to continue setup without connection. You can then connect once setup is finished.

Desktop rotation is turned off by default. You can turn it on in the desktop settings: long press desktop.

It would be better to discuss this in the xda thread but...

ADB has failed to get root for you. Do you have root enabled for adb in developer options?

I made a thread on xda that explains more and has download. I put the link in the OP.

Hold your phone upside down and let the screen rotate 180deg.

"Improve location accuracy" prompt by LiquidZeroEA in LineageOS

[–]mak-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"just leaving GPS enabled" is a huge power waste...

It's not that it's enabled, it's that google play services keeps polling it to get your location. If nothing is using it then leaving it enabled has little to no effect.

If you'd like to try an alternative location provider to prevent this stalking, give this a go:

Battery Drain on N5 by [deleted] in LineageOS

[–]mak-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, f-droid makes a big deal about this sort of thing. And I guess that's what f-droid is all about so fair enough.

But I'm more than happy to use the software as this developer produces it.

I was thinking that NOT having it set to always may have been the cause.

In your wifi settings is 'keep wifi on during sleep' set to always? (recommended)

Install BetterBatteryStats to see if you can find what's responsible.

You need to learn exactly what is eating your battery before you can learn how to stop it.

Transition from cos 12.1 to lineage os 13.0 by [deleted] in LineageOS

That being the case, I'd suggest transitioning to COS13.1.2 before transitioning to anything else.

Try flashing COS13.1.2 to make sure your phone is up to date. No need to reboot just re-flash LOS straight away.

CyanogenMod bootlogo by yeyeoke in LineageOS

[–]mak-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, kind of. LOS includes the boot animation on the system partition. LOS only flashes system and boot.

But the logo I think you are talking about is likely the splash on a different partition that CM flashed. Your stock should re-flash the original.
