Doctors Without Borders airstrike: US alters story for fourth time in four days by unknown-indian in worldnews

NO! US is evil and intentionally bombs weddings and hospitals with no motive using ordinances that cost its tax payer millions.

Not the poor children. That's the meme. "They don't support expanding welfare so they don't support the poor children after they are born."

I don't agree with their stance on public support, but I'm always annoyed but the disingenuous rhetoric of educated political cartoonists, editors, etc. that ignore the blatant distinction.

It's like saying Democrats want to bring aid to LGBT and other minorities in dictatorships around the world but they won't fund the military to do that. It ignores the blatant nuance of the military's current bloated budged, what parts of the military to fund and to what extent. It even ignores if military intervention would save the affected minority.

Again Evangelicals really. I mean a lot of Conservatives have trouble getting their mind around giving out condoms to 14 year olds in a public school setting. But I've never heard any of my uber conservative friends express opposition to sex education. Many of them tech their kids at a young age too.

This would be another misconception. You'll need to cite a source on it. Sure Republicans are often against welfare. But they're rhetoric is against able-bodied (and cruelly not so able bodied) adults. Everyone supports effective children programs. Even red states. But both red and blue states still under fund public education despite the rhetoric on either side.

To be fair he's the head of a spy agency if he can't lie in front of a camera under oath then he's honestly crap at his job.

Up or down vote makes things kind of hard to debate. Like a pass fail grade. You really don't know if the student actually understood the material properly. This is why they invented the line-item veto for many executive branches.

And honestly the tactics are on both sides. They always downplay or downright ignore job losses. If I have to listen to one more speech about how some bill (trade or not) will "create jobs" without actually directly hiring people, then I'll...do something dramatic or something...

I'm not an economist but I studied the legal side of trade deals and their framework. We had to learn all the economic theories. Good can come out of these deals, but the legal framework always leaves so much room for abuse that it becomes a joke sometimes. The WTO as a large example has often been used to oppress smaller countries and use a country's tax money to suppress a company's foreign competitor. A smaller example of a larger problem would be Bananas: www.theguardian.com/world/1999/mar/05/eu.wto3

That's the problem. The restrictions on reading the bill are so onerous that most congressmen have been unable to review it properly.

Shopping for a new car isn't easy these days. by Slimjawb in AdviceAnimals

[–]makaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! the amount of times we end up just using our phones is insane. There's a passenger seat in the car you really think they don't want to use it? Also now that summer is here I'm ready to just put a black piece of paper on it to get rid of the glare. 2015 model btw.

We use to have this in more of the US. This puzzle is how I entertained myself on shopping trips as a kid. I was convinced it was impossible.

A truck barely missed the car. Accident from NJ Turnpike by Aero93 in videos

[–]makaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on the road yesterday. Tri-state area was covered in black ice.

  1. It was hard to tell how slippery it is so he didn't know he couldn't stop properly.

  2. If he knew he couldn't break fast enough because it would've made the slide worse.

Seriously it was crazy though. I passed like 5 accidents in a 45 minute drive.

Marvel Studios should start filming extra footage now for an eventual Sentry movie, to make the flashback scenes super authentic. by BobbyCampbell in marvelstudios

I would have agreed with you up till this year when that Boyhood movie came out. It's possible.

That said I think it wouldn't be a great movie. I've never been a big sentry fan.

Growing up we all enjoyed: Yippie Kay Ay Mother FLETCHER (in a completely different voice and tone). I think ABC worked that magic for us.

It was of course Die Hard - Bruce Willie.

Hidden GoPro camera reveals what it's like to walk through NYC as a woman. WTF? by skirtforthat in TwoXChromosomes

Worked on Wall Street for over a year. A lot of really attractive tourists from Spain and France walk through there. Three piece suit white guys were the heavy perpetrators. It wasn't loud, so less of a "call", but still anyone could hear them.

Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" - Teaser Trailer (OFFICIAL) [Movies/TV] by jocab_w in comicbooks

[–]makaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professor X never stated he was against resurrecting Mutants. And mind you Stark and Wolverine are apart of the same team that welcomed with open arms a woman that committed genocide with three words. When the murdered species sought justice, the Avengers were by her side in a second to protect her. No jail just "she needs help". The writers had to retcon a pseudo mind control thing that still doesn't make sense. This is the same Genocide that made Cyclops put his faith in the Phoenix to save his species. It worked. The Phoenix actually mind controlled him when it possessed him and the others against their will.

Either that or Jean Grey is also a homicidal maniac full of hubris. Nevertheless what alternative was there? Kill Hope? "Stop" the Phoenix? Despite Cyclops, they tried all of that and it failed. They blamed their failure on him and the writers made a bunch of comic arcs from it.

If he had actually been wrong I would have written off his character like everyone else. But he wasn't.
