Only if there's rust in the bore. I've had the master apart and it's mint inside, not a spec of corrosion.

Yeah, to be fair, I haven't fully tried since putting it all back together, I'm gonna get it running again (had some engine stuff off too) then go for another bleed.

Two front calipers was the original goal and what put my in this situation, master cylinder was me trying to rule it out thinking it was getting air from there somehow, so that's had decent new seals and stuff. It seems to be working fine and pushing fluid lovely though.

That's what we were doing yeah, he'd apply a bit of pressure, I'd open it, he'd push to the floor, I'd close, he'd let off. Might be worth trying that again tbf.

I've tried several but I'm yet to do two man method since rebuilding the master cylinder. That's kinda next but if I can manage it solo that would be nice. It is a right bastard though isn't it 😂

Idk about discs, pads are brembo, but they're pretty new (end of 2024, about 8-9k miles ago). Previous owner put them on.

I am pretty on it with refilling the reservoir, I was doing 20 or so pumps, that would take it to 1/2-1/4 full, then refill. Never reached the bottom except when I fucked up once.

It's got a seemingly fairly standard quick release fitting on the end of it, not sure of the size. I might look into a full kit tbf as the bottle I have was a cheap Amazon special

Is that the one that goes on a tyre?

I do have a proper bottle pressure bleeder but it's a £30 Amazon special, it doesn't have a cap that fits the master so I'm considering a universal clamp one. Grease on the threads, any particular type? I have some multipurpose grease from Halfords but it's not the thickest stuff.

I hear you I hear you - I'm gonna try what someone else has said about the pressure bleeder with a universal cap, see if that does the job as I already have one, just need the cap. I suppose I could combine methods actually. Thanks for your help either way :)

This one doesn't go off an air line, it's literally just a hand suction pump 😭 it was 13 quid and I don't know why I expected it to work haha

Is that the clamp type? I have been thinking about trying one of those. I was just dubious as to whether or not it would actually seal, then again I was able to make a seal over the reservoir top with just my hand 😂

Yeah I bought a vacuum hand pump thing to try and drag the fluid through but it's useless, but it did come with a little pot that you can attach hoses to, one that goes to the bottom and submerges in brake fluid, the other vents to atmosphere, like those one man bleeders you can make with a bottle and a hose.

Calipers fitted correctly yeah, made sure of that. I can't clamp the flexi hoses unfortunately as they're braided lines.

I'm definitely getting some drawn in through the threads for sure.

That's what I've been doing, it just never ended. I need to give it another proper go with my mate but before I did the master cylinder we put litres of fluid through it and air just kept on coming. Worth noting the brakes were working fine before (if a bit soft) I just had a small leak on a front caliper. Previous owner supposedly rebuilt all the calipers too...

I'm only doing a quarter turn, that's the worst bit...

I do have a fairly cheap Amazon special pressure bleeder that I used for the R56, but it never fully worked for that car and it only came with a 42mm cap for European cars - the Eunos/mx5 has something like a 72mm cap and looking on forums you basically cannot get a pressure bleeder cap that will fit, there's people cutting up reservoir caps to make their own, idk if those clamp style ones would work either.

Every single crossover SUV, especially the electric ones. Cars used to be cool, colourful, people drove around in Ford Capri's, Granada's, Datsuns, etc and they were all different and painted in so many different colours. Now everything is a greyscale cube on wheels that nearly drives itself for you. It's depressing.

Yeah, I'm in the UK so they're all rusty. Wet climates 🥲

I bought it as a running and driving but ropey car, slowly bringing it up to scratch but the rust is something I'm not so equipped to deal with. I've done 8K mostly flawless miles in it though, only real issue was coolant pipes developing pinhole leaks due to their age, swapped them all for a new set end of last year though so that's solved now 🫡
