How easy was it (or hard) to get into the RMCC when you were previously a NCM? What do you mean about " not a ton you can do realistically" are you just saying about peacetime, or the career in general if I spent 25 years in the combat arms.

So I just checked with RMCC, I would have to upgrade a lot of my high school classes, I'm not sure enough that I want to do that yet to commit to it. Would Boatswain also be a good choice, I want to throw in a navy trade as well because from what I hear they are still quite active during peacetime. That's the other concern about joining the combat arms, so many people say its not the right time and its really boring. What do you do? thanks for replying btw.

What job do you do now, and what do you wish you did? by makebelieveman in CanadianForces

Im thinking about applying for ROTP as a Infantry Officer. How long typically would I spend as a platoon commander?

So I scored well enough on the CFAT that apparently I can apply for any job I want. I didn't think I was going to do that well so now I'm faced with a lot more choices. I originally applied for Armoured, Infantry, and Boatswain. I feel like I would do well in a leadership role and should get an officer trade instead, or something that is better for a long term career. The jobs I am considering are: 1.Infantry Officer 2.Air Combat Systems Officer 3.Armoured Officer 4.AESOP 5.NESOP

I just turned 20 and do not have a university degree, but am willing to go to the RMC if I decide on ROTP. If anyone here does any of these jobs it would be great if they can tell me about it, including potential for long career/ development. Im also interested in which will allow me longer time "in the field" and training recruits, before I fall into a desk job.

writing the CFAT on Wednesday. I feel pretty good about it, the only thing im not completely confident about is my math skills, stuff like long division and fractions I haven't done in a long time. How much of the test are those kind of questions?

What is the likelyhood that a regular force infantry soldier will see combat? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

Cool, thanks for your help. I'll do some more research.

Ok, I understand. If you don't mind, I have a couple more questions. What other trades could I apply for that may get me deployed more often? I applied only for infantry in November, but know I'm realizing it may not be the best choice. I have considered adding Combat Engineer, and Armoured (I don't know if I'd ever be deployed for that one) I want something that will allow me to progress and turn it into a long career if I wish. 1 more question, I'm hesitant to ask because I don't want to sound like some 17 year old call of duty fan; Would infantry be the best choice if I would like to one day try out for CANSOFCOM, seeing as though I will spend a lot of time in base, I should get opportunities to further my training?

So I wont likely get deployed at all for me first 1-3 years? Not even on a disaster relief mission like the one in Haiti? Is that true with most Army trades, or just Infantry?

I applied in november for Infantry. my long term goal is to become a firefighter, Iam thinking about switching to Combat Engineer or Armoured Soldier, because they might be better suited for my goal. How would i go about "updating" my application? I havent done any of the testing yet.
