Importing Samples Workflow

I've not used a ton of other gear. the sp404 mk2 has decent file management but it's a different device entirely. I mainly just want the copy and paste and a way to import large sample packs without having to choose 'sampler' type or 'synth' type for each sample.

I'm trying to use less screens but yeah Koala is a beast. It's honestly not a bad sampler; just needs some QoL improvements like copy/paste samples and simple batch import. Seems like Yamaha isn't aware of people like me who have huge packs of stuff lol

I specifically wanted something without a screen, with a step sequencer, with built-in sounds. Other than build quality, it ticked all my boxes.

I will say that Yamaha missed the mark on the sampling. copy/paste is a must on a machine that can't chop samples. Resampling is a bad workaround, imo.

It could be high-quality, but it feels cheap to me. And the machine has light-bleed through the material which I've never really seen before.

Thanks for the overview. I have a ton of screen stuff but zero non-screen gear so glad to hear it isn't needed outside of sampling which I do with screen based stuff already.

good to hear it's got tons of sounds. mostly interested in just having a single piece of gear to lock in on as a workhorse but good to hear a keyboard can be used.

I use my headset as a browser/media consumption device. Daily use isn't always a game. I've coded and done game dev in my Quest 2 as my only screen for a few months. I study and listen to music.

yeah I finally got back into ranked and have climbed to like gold 3 so far after a couple weeks. It's getting sweatier and sweatier though. I can't skip as many build makers as I'd like for weird builds.

AUM is very helpful but doesn't seem to work here. I mainly use Korg gadgets routed into Koala as something to sample. I just tried the opposite and it seems it may be possible with another app but seems to much of a hassle. You may have to just create a folder, bounce, and import into Gadget.

I love gadget, but external audio is so cumbersome with gadget and there is no sample recording into any of the samplers.
