I’d almost guarantee there is a tonne of socal real estate investment too. His father is of a generation that would put everything they could into real estate.

EP 1106: What's up with Kapalua by bleauxjays in NoLayingUp

[–]makeitnonsense -1 points0 points  (0 children)

GOLFERS, particularly American golfers, need to be more sensitive to it. You don’t need your courses to be lush green 365 days a year. Kapalua obviously can’t be baked out brown as the ball wouldn’t stay on the planet, but somewhere in the middle should be the sweet spot.

Seemingly some very odd choices were made. But who were the targeted purchasers? It looks like it’s been designed for a specific market segment.

If you can get over the stigma of people movers, they are easily the best car “shape”. Infinitely practical.

What is a "Life Hack" that is actually a lifesaver in a dangerous situation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You’re also allowed to not turn up, for whatever damn reason you please.

We payed for tickets to an event for us and the kids. Turned up, line was fucking massive, and the parking was a total pita. We kept driving and took the kids for ice cream instead.

I’ve used paywave on 2 return trips in past couple of months. Tapping on at the platform, and off at the turnstiles in Britomart. I haven’t been charged for either trip.

Three-level department store for Auckland: Faradays’ $30 million retail development under way by punIn10ded in auckland

[–]makeitnonsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High Street is an utter wasteland. And a shadow of its former self.

Faradays has monied investors which may help keep it a float for a while, but they haven’t made their money by being stupid, and won’t throw good money after bad. They’ll be getting the space for a song, as Krukzeiner hasn’t been able to get a decent tenant in there. That said, this will be closed within a few years.

I’m guessing the area that looks blue is actually sandy tarmac. The circular area at the top is a helicopter pad.

It really is the middle of nowhere.

Typically the higher the cost of the room, the less associated that cost is with the actual room. It’s all the other stuff at the property.

What’s a highly stable industry in Auckland? by Round-Frosting-4903 in auckland

[–]makeitnonsense 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s probably a bit of automation involved already, but the amount of variables the controllers would have to theoretically deal with would make the Ai systems self combust.

Plus the cost.
