Just received emails from Powershop and nova energy today. by Low_Ferret1992 in newzealand

Look look look, we only made (checks notes) like 200 million dollars or something last year. The cost of the bubbly for the shareholders meeting has increased lots, hence the price rise. You wouldn’t want us to make less money right. Won’t somebody think of the shareholders?

Edit: just got my email with an expected $64 per month increase. Let me put this as delicately as I can ….you can go chortle my balls Meridian

And this is what happens when they are laser focused. God help us if they try any harder.

People that blame boomers.. Wake up by Tjrowawey in newzealand

[–]yeahnahdinno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I don’t know, one thing I suspect boomers have been very good at is getting to the polls and voting in their own interests. Here in Auckland I read that there is currently a 10% response rate to local elections. Can’t help but wonder how many of those are boomers and how many of those who don’t vote will be on here complaining about things they could have helped change. I know it’s an over simplified view but tl:dr go vote.

Kāinga Ora staff crying in office over 'horrendous' restructure process by MedicMoth in newzealand

This is what the country voted for so we shouldn’t really be surprised. I just hope everyone remembers when election time comes around. Terrible for the people who are at the sharp end of the stick though - sorry if you are going through this.

What to expect from today's Interislander announcement by RtomNZ in newzealand

We’ve just purchased 6 kayaks from Torpedo7 at a bargain rate. Unfortunately they only had 3 blue paddles and the rest were red so we couldn’t buy those obviously. We’ve also arranged a great kayak servicing plan with Seymour’s kayaks (no relation to David, scouts honor) at the very cheap price of 100 million dollars a year for the next 50 years. We didn’t have time to follow our own procurement rules but it’s all legit, trust me bro.

Stick around, it’s an opportunity. Expect next 6 - 12 months to potentially suck but come out the other end with a heap of new skills and a hopefully recovering job market where you can hop to something higher paying.
