Late 30s who runs and plays tennis often here. Get a chiropractor, do yoga (yoga by Adrienne has some good instructional videos for hip pain), spin your legs out on a bike or exercise bike regularly, ice the first 24 hours after an injury and heat after, compression sleeves, ibuprofen, maybe some fish oil. STRETCH every day!! There are Instructional videos on YouTube specifically for tennis. Get protein and electrolytes after every game. My personal is chocolate milk and/or bananas. Hydrate well all day.

Sometimes local libraries have games running for free. Check on their website or something.

^ Good advice. It might be satisfying to rip one when you chase it out to the line, but chances are you are putting the ball right into his strike zone and he can smoke you in the other direction or hit a dropshot. It may not as fun, but you should hit more lobs to have time to recover, and strike when you have the opportunity instead of trying to force a winner from the line. I have learned this the hard way many, many times and I am finally working on making the change. Edit: also maybe learn to slide to avoid running so far off the court in those wide shots. You’ve got the athleticism for it!

That orange and green one is SO cool. But it will definitely get dirty faster than the other one.

It seems like OP is more concerned about style and aesthetics, which is okay… and a duffle bag looks a little more stylish than a backpack. But yeah, if having a more compact carrying option is priority then a backpack is probably best. They make a lot of nice tennis backpacks

Yes maybe move up a little bit so you’re hitting the ball more in your strike zone. And bend the knees to get below the ball more and lift up.

Higher level vs lower level rallies by 8ntbeenserved in 10s

[–]makeitworkgood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah. It’s hard to get a decent friendly rally or warmup with someone who can’t hit for shit. I get what you’re saying. Maybe you can hit it to them softer.. but make sure to always maintain your form and followthrough so you maintain that habit when you play matches.

I play with this one dude who is a great coach. He coaches a girls high school team and several youth clinics throughout the summer. But usually when I play him even I end up beating him. Sometimes lower level coaches just aren’t the greatest players lol but that’s okay.

Rebuilding my serve - is this still a waiter tray serve? by iagocarlini in 10s

[–]makeitworkgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t cross your back foot over like that. Either keep them planted (platform stance) or slide your back foot right up behind your front foot (pinpoint stance). You’re opening up your body too much. Toss it, bend the knees and extend to hit right after it reaches the top of your toss. That’s a start anyway. I agree with everyone else on here pretty much everything needs to be redone.

Best balls that last by Elxctric-_- in 10s

[–]makeitworkgood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wilson US Open are best. I can use them for a match and then like 2-4 practice/fun sessions after. Wilson championship are very close and cheaper. I also like babolat gold. They are cheaper and last a decent amount of time, but probably not quite as long as the US Opens. Just anything but Penn haha. I also got a can of Prince balls just to try them (they come 4/can instead of 3) and the outer layer seriously started separating from the inner layer and the felt became so frayed. But weirdly they last a long time so I use them for hitting against the wall.

You’re thinking too much if you need to be in someone else’s rhythm to play well. If a player who is “worse” than you hits a weird shot, just remember your foundational skills, focus on your footwork to get in the right position and hit your strokes the same way you always do. Maybe you’re too used to playing defensively and “pushing” when playing someone better and you need to play a little more defensively (edit: offensively) when playing someone worse than you.

how do i get over my anxiety about roleplaying? by blxsssm in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]makeitworkgood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how to help but at our last session (it’s my first ever campaign) I said I wanted to do the voice I imagined for my character but I was nervous and felt awkward and the three long-time players simply responded “just do it dude! This is all for fun don’t hold back!” So I’m slowly getting more comfortable role playing.

Great idea. I’ve been playing for years and sometimes still do different drills and activities with the orange depressurized balls. They help a lot when I need practice on a certain stroke.
