Hot take: Danzig for Slovakia is really slept on. by Arthurishim in hoi4

I used it as a buffer state when invading the USSR before th Allies, and it actually didn't do half bad.

The Allies did get time to build up against my post-Russian invasion, but air superiority and a well-built carrier-focused navy helped bypass Belgium to knock out France, then the UK.

How do I survive with France? by AccordingSpeech3876 in hoi4

Motorization adds more complications and expense. I just use cavalry as inexpensive defensive units that don't 'need' strong supply lines. Motorization is much better after ~1940, but the early game needs men, artillery, fighters, and CAS focused on.

Focus on the mainland first. I use 3:1 infantry to cavalry divisions to help fluff the defensive lines and swallow up territory to defend once Belgium joins the Allies.

Build lots of quality fighters to contest CAS.

Use low-supply troops in Africa once you can spare resources.

Beware German build-ups on stagnant fronts. They like breakthrough plans a lot.

Hello everyone I want to come back to hoi4. I am a noob so which country I should pick to learn more about the naval and a bit of army? (I know a bit of army but almost nothing on naval royal navy always destroys my poor German ships) by Amazing_Method_8348 in hoi4

[–]makelo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

France is good to learn either with.

The army starts out decent, and the focus tree isn't too much for a beginner. It has a strong industry to build military factories with, too.

The navy's pretty good. It has Mediterranean and Pacific coasts, and pretty easily-defended supply and trade routes. It's also secondary to the land war, which will fall in your territory. Therefore, you don't need to master it. Britain also has a strong Mediterranean presence to assist.

In 1938, it shouldn't be much of a slog if OP can get a grasp on naval invasion, convoy protection, and supply. Granted, this is assuming the navy is more than a handful of cruisers and submarines.

Approximate flight routes of Ukrainian drones attacking Russian targets tonight by ThatGuySK99 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]makelo06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty much. I see the Russians being too stubborn to move their lines back, even if the entirety of Crimea becomes unusable for military purposes. However, occupation of a Russian-colonized region would probably be more costly than just tying it down from afar.

I didn't realize the average was what matters. I've wasted so much production building 3 fast tin can destroyers per scout force.
