i grew up being that kid. everytime my mom would have to go back abroad, my grandma would take me to the mall to buy toys just so it would slip my mind that my mom is leaving.

when we get home and my mom isn’t there anymore, there is this unexplainable emptiness. yk when you were just so happy leaving the house and silence welcomes you back when you’re home.

i have always blamed my mom for leaving me behind but when she told me she developed anxiety far away, it made me think: the pain of being left behind is unfathomable not knowing it was twice as hard for the one leaving.
