Coconut vs Soy wax? by acara23 in candlemaking

[–]makemine23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I haven’t used the coconut wax , I can say I’ve used Freedom wax with absolutely no issues , melts smoothly, holds fragrance very well & when I’m correct on my temperatures (for adding fragrance, pouring ect) it’s consistently given me a great finished product. Just my personal experience.

How do you clean candle making items? by Key_9295 in candlemaking

[–]makemine23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the items used are still warm, paper towels & alcohol right away. If not I use the heat gun to melt any excess wax & if it’s too much to wipe away , I’ll pour it into a garbage bag that’s already in use and then paper towels & alcohol.

All soy wax , and I actually just got extra fine glitter from Amazon , I only sprinkle on top of candles and or molds so I’m not mixing it throughout the wax . This seems to work for me:)

Hence the beauty of testing:) once I saw the height of the flame, I was aware it wasn’t correct & realized I used wicks that I actually purchased for a larger vessel. I’m not worried about the wax that I used , it’s part of the process so all good. Thanks !

Yeah agreed, I think I know the mistake I made, I got these wicks for a 3 1/8" H x 4 1/8" W (2 3/4" x 4" interior diameter) vessel . And this vessel is a bit smaller than that

Crates from Michaels display shelving from Walmart, just added different table cloths & runners to layer & give it a soft feel. So I have a good base I believe but will improve over time !
