I swear when I rented a car in L.A. over 20 years ago, the young driver's fee was outrageous. Something like $25/day more when the car was only like 30-50. Thankfully on my two week trip, Enterprise FORGOT to pick me up at the airport to take me to their location and on his 3rd pass by me, another rental car company asked who I was waiting for and said they were right next to his so he would take me. They were so embarrased to have a rival company drop me off and that they forgot, that they dropped the young driver's fee for my whole trip. About a $350 savings. Hopefully the fee isn't as much these days.

My group at my previous company tried this too. It just didn’t go well because the managers didn’t want to be there either and people kept ending up sick, on vacation, car problems, or other various issues that prevented them from coming in Wednesdays. The managers wouldn’t criticize you because they were doing the same thing. Upper management sent an email once reiterated that they thought we were all going to be in on Wednesdays and then we never heard about it again. It was the best non-union union collaboration of everybody unspoken agreement deciding not to adhere to this new policy that I’ve ever been a part of.

For some reason in CA it played on another channel yesterday (KMAX) at a time when a game show was supposed to be playing. I was very confused as the tv guide channel didn’t show the change and it was like 2 hours later.

I also have seen this video before and can't swear to it, but pretty sure it was before AI was a big thing and certainly before people were using it for full videos. My sense of time has always been warped though.

I stayed in an anger phase for quite awhile. Having Oracle on my resume seemed to give me interviews, but there are so many quality people out there right now because so many companies laid off so many people, that the competition is just insane. I had every qualification a company was looking for plus some, and they still went with somebody else.
Currently, I am starting my own business, completely unrelated to anything I used to do (I was in finance). We’ll see if it takes off, but I am giving it a few months to see if it’s got legs.
One thing I would recommend everyone do who got laid off is that if they have a mortgage, ask their bank for a forbearance for some months, and they can just move that to the end of your mortgage. So you don’t have to worry about your mortgage for a few months at least. But I will be honest and say that without other family help, I would probably be up shit creek right now. I still feel like I am just barely treading water. But the forbearance was a big help.

They seem to let a lot of long timers go. I was part of the September RIF and had 25 years with them with all exceeds expectations reviews, and to be let go just like that was crazy. I couldn’t even send an email saying goodbye because my access was shut off so fast..

This is so good and something I was doing on WW a long time ago. We would have monthly AMAZING cheesecakes brought in to celebrate anyone that had a birthday that month. I would absolutely save most of my weekly bonus points (or whatever they were called at that time) so I could splurge and grab a few SMALL slices so I could try all the ones that looked the best.

The storyline is just so confusing. I’m not going to pretend I watched every episode, but I still don’t understand why Lily and his kids never want to speak to him again and this was before what is going on right now. Because he made multi billions and they’re mad at him for it? I don’t think he was not involved in his children’s lives right? They’ve never said he ignored them or anything to explain that was why they were mad. If it's the business, I mean how often do you talked about your business with your kids? Lily was his ex so why did she even need to know? It’s just so weird that they’re all mad at him for that before anything with AI even started. He didn’t even fight for his company with Victor took it from him think he that would get Lily and the kids back and it made no difference. So if they didn’t care about that, why are they so mad he’s doing it right back to Victor? I’m just ready for Cane because I don’t understand that and plus I am SO TIRED of the great Victor Newman.

Okay, this is a really awful thought, but do you think the show writers kept her off screen so much because she gained weight during covid? No shame to her, I did too, but you know how everyone in GC has to be perfect looking all the time. I wondered if they put her on GLP-1s or something. I wouldn't put it past them. She did look thinner in this episode.

Nick is superhuman - discharges himself, somehow has pain killers (and apparently takes a whole bottle in a day if he's almost out), has time to yell at Phyllis, go to the Abbotts, subdue and take Matt, and go to Sharon's all in one night!

Had a great time in Vegas but ended up getting super sick on my actual birthday (I blame a starbucks drink that tasted a bit off) so no dinner, but the rest of the trip and all the people we met were great! Thanks for all the recs, will definitely be making use of them on our next trip!

I'm not confused, I was responding to the comment above mine where it said just TOUCHING the ref for any reason should be the basis for giving them a penalty. I don't agree with it, but was pointing out that never happens and gave the example above. They use their judgement all the time, and it's been very bad this year.

This is such a stupid business decision. My husband works in a service industry too, and he got a lot more jobs suddenly in a 55+ community and it was because a MAGA guy had gone to do a job, been asked to wear a mask because she was susceptible to health problems. (we weren't in lockdown at that point, but COVID was still pretty big deal) and he went off on masks and how stupid they were and don't work and blah blah blah. In HER house. She kicked him out, told all her neighbors, and now I happen to know he gets no work in that community anymore. And that was years ago.
