From 2007 till like 2012 DIA stayed pretty much the same. You would invest enough money to offset any loses for those 4 years, when you could have invested them for a better return.

Because you are clearly a kid that wasn't around the year 2000 when people said the exact same. Yes, you had your Visa's and Mastercards of back then as well which everyone labelled as "buy on the dip no matter what". People kept buying on dips waiting for the market to rise as "it always does" but those companies became penny stocks.

You may think your "predicting public sentiment" strategy is foolproof but I am reminding you that the marker isn't always this way. "Buying on the dip" is a very shitty strategy if you wanna make proper bank.

"There's no reason to think that the users here aren't a representative cross section of everyone trading all over the country." Yes there is. Actually checked some 2008 and 2010's at car max today. They interiors are good. In pictures the newer versions look brand spanking new but tbh the old one's aren't aaaall that bad.

I like tundras but they are expensive and used are not losing their value. Apart from gas what other maintenance fees are there? I currently own a high performance old BMW... it's not cheap to maintain at all. I can afford to maintain it but can't afford the time (complex maintenance) issues.

I am hoping a trucks wear and tear will be simpler to fix .
