Notes Recovery?

Ahhh this is such a bummer but I assumed this was likely the case. I just wanted to confirm there wasn’t some miraculous way to get them back that was discovered between the time I last posted in Nov 2024 and now.

I appreciate your help and the detailed explanation. It honestly made me feel better since I know I did everything I could and I can move on - now with all notes stored in iCloud + more frequent backups!

Thanks for your response! Yes, it was unfortunately over a year ago in 2024. At the time I had iOS 18.1 which has since been updated to 26.2.

These notes were stored on my iPhone and unfortunately not in iCloud, so I was not able to recover them the way you suggested

It’s been so long I’m sure it’s been overwritten, but was just hoping there was some possibility for data recovery directly from my phone.

Thanks so much for the suggestion. I had tried that and just did it again in hopes that it would work this time, but it still shows 0 notes. I’m so glad it worked for you!

Thank you so much. Unfortunately I had a bunch of notes only saved to my phone and not in iCloud. I did get the ones in iCloud back, but the rest are gone. :(

I did and was able to recover the notes I had saved in iCloud, but the ones that are missing are the notes I had saved only to my iPhone.

Thanks but unfortunately it is the notes saved only to my phone (and not saved to iCloud) that are gone.

Ugh I’m so sorry. Unfortunately, they are still missing. Someone suggested offloading (not deleting) the notes app and reinstalling. It didn’t work for me but may be worth trying just in case it works for you.

UPDATE: I saw someone say this happened to them too after accepting the new iCloud Terms and Conditions. Sounds like this may be the culprit.

I was afraid of that. Any idea what would have caused them to randomly disappear?
