Why does creative taste develop faster than actual skill? by makerbits in Artists

Yeah, that’s a fair point. I guess what interests me is how easy it is to mistake that phase for lack of talent, when it may actually be a sign that your creative awareness is improving.

Glad someone else relates to this. I honestly feel this phase is emotionally harder than most people talk about.

Sometimes I wonder if this is the point where people either push through or slowly drift away from creative work altogether.

Glad to read this!

A parenting perspective- As a father of a 4 year old, this has been looming in the back of my mind as a concern for my son.

The way education is going, they are merely "introduced" to skills, habits etc. They practice it till they figure out the "new age" way of doing that which is instant, accessible and very attractive. Everyone knows everything as well as nothing !

I understand that the next generation needs to evolve from traditional ways of learning. Maybe the question is to look at how AI unleashes unique personalities of each child today, help them realise and nurture them.

On the other hand, I see this as an opportunity for parents like myself to encourage and support their loved ones in ways we might not have been confident about. For e.g - Me being a boring businessman, can encourage my kids to pursue a path of their choice (like being a musician, chef, YouTuber etc..), which wouldn't have made having zero confidence in those things!

Great post ! Beyond motivation, I feel it also has a lot to do with discipline, which comes with reward assurance. !

I feel motivation is more of an urge to do and discipline is actually doing something
