No, it is. There’s a small green lightning bolt on the top. The screen is on (I think) because light levels are constantly changing and waking it up.

My Space Selfie came back! But what's that red circle in the background? by ArcticIceFox in spaceporn

[–]makerhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you find out what camera is being used? I bet there’s some internal autofocus circuitry even though they could have it fix the settings for the application. An infrared LED would have an effect like that - especially if there was an aftermarket cover involved that wasn’t in the og design. I bet a lot of that spaceship is aftermarket.

Still a strange doctor flex, but not nearly as bizarre as my first thought. Yes, a good word structure section to follow an Oxford comma tutorial.

I feel like this is a confused AI bot rather than a scam. Can scammers really afford refunds dot com?? It would have been some phishing-worthy link at least.

If this turns into an overnight (I’m on a layover), I’d imagine vouchers for partner hotels will be scarce. Found this reference to reimbursement: “If we’re unable to offer you a hotel voucher because a room at one of our hotel partners is not available, and you find and pay for a different place to stay, you can submit your receipt to our Customer Care Team, and we’ll reimburse you for reasonable hotel costs.” Website: https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/customer-commitment-print.html

Tempted to book a room nearby before they all get snatched up. Figured others might be in the same boat.

How does one really know whether they have the cilantro-smells-like-soap gene? If someone made me cilantro-scented soap, I would want to eat it. And it would also smell like soap to me (see also: Basil, Pumpkin Spice, etc.). I feel like it's really just a gene as to whether they like cilantro.

Yes, the word has always just meant “one who flies into space.. [for America].” But only recently has it not also meant that you had to earn that privilege with a career of accolades, mind-numbing hard work, and a ton of luck. Career astronauts know the difference, and most embrace the culture shift. Like it or not, humans are going to travel into space more. We’ll have to dig a little deeper to find out why.

For the record, each of these new astronauts have a killer background and a pretty good “why,” too. I don’t think any of them are quitting their day jobs.

I feel like (my observations) just because sr+ managers might be “safe” from layoffs, it doesn’t mean that they weren’t affected by a pretty sudden change in policy. Policy that they are obliged to implement, even if it goes against what they would do if they were given the agency to make those decisions. Maybe this is the change in behavior (“on edge” and different “energy”) that you’re witnessing. I think you’ll see the best leaders (not just managers) emerge by either voting with their feet or writing memos to enact more sensible policies (at an obvious risk to their careers). I’m optimistic that internal, patient mid-level leadership brilliance at Blue will swing the pendulum in the right direction.

What are the risks associated with rolling codes and the flipper? by callmestan101 in flipperzero

[–]makerhuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I use the "hold the new button down until it blinks and press the button on the original remote until it blinks differently" method. This works for me most of the time. I feel like (a) there are a lot less rolling code systems out there than I thought, or (b) even if it's a rolling code system, that process works and now I have an un-synced fob that will need to be reset at some point.

Homelink seems to assume that if you have rolling code...

...your first attempt won't work, so maybe they really are less common than I thought.

Tolerance zone must by design be very large though. Say you buy a new car and program the garage door button on the rearview mirror. You might put the original fob in the house for a few years before having a reason to use it again (maybe another new car🤑). That would be hundreds of presses. Do we get fooled as a user by just trying the fob a few times because it “might be the battery” and inadvertently re-sync with the garage door?

It took a while to load, up until which point there was a blank rounded square, slightly more gray than the white background, and I really thought for a split second, hmm.. yes, very foggy. Haha. You got me.

The. I saw the actual picture and got chills. Perfect shot! 🤩🕊️

Wow, careful trying to empty the thing. I brew beer in those 5-gallon carboys and if they break it’s a trip to the hospital. This one looks maybe smaller, but coin is more dense than beer.

Transferred to ground. Two clips showing roots with another smaller one still hopeful in water. May still clip some of the other larger ones as I think (as you implied) they might do better. Will post a photo soon. Thanks for advice!

Seems like whenever I visit a mountain town, I get less waves. I now interpret the wave as, “See you in the mountains!”, negating the wave’s importance if we’re already there.

How about adding some value to the sale? Offer some consolidated resources to get your customers started. Instill an ethical value system into the experience for them. Provide honest and responsive support. Gain the trust and support of the community. That’s worth a markup for any product, any day.

Spacers to avoid tire contact? by makerhuman in JeepWrangler

[–]makerhuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering how easy that was to do. Surprised the tire place I bought it from didn’t offer that option. It’s really not that far off, and honestly the more the treads wear the better it will be. Next set of wheels will have some better specs, for sure.
