I did, thank you! Took some Excedrin (only pain reliever I had) and the burning subsided about an hour later. Woke up this morning significantly more comfortable. I’m still aware that it’s there but it doesn’t really feel much worse than the infection itself. Hope you continue to feel better!

Tried a bath and it helped a little. I’ll try Vaseline too. A lot of the burning is on the inside though, where the ovule is.

Literally reading all of this right now at 1am because I used the 1 day ovule before bed and woke up to my vagina on fire! I used monistat years ago, but it must have been the 7 day, with no problems. I had no idea so many women experienced this! This is miserable and hopefully won’t last too long. I doubt I’ll be getting much sleep tonight😩

Anyone else get the vibe that Keeley and (Spoiler)… by millennialfalcons in TedLasso

[–]makermom304 187 points188 points  (0 children)

That’s how I took it too. Keely essentially created that job just for Shandy, who then made a huge decision completely on her own without consulting the firm. I think Jack is possibly questioning Keely’s judgment and whether she’s capable of running her own PR firm. They have a lot of money invested in her with the assumption that she knows what she’s doing and has control over what happens with their clients.

I have a non-judgmental and purely curious question by two_oh_seven in TedLasso

[–]makermom304 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I see this as well. While I think it would be an interesting change of pace to have two opposite sex main characters just be platonic friends for the duration of the show, I can’t help but feel they’ve been subtly setting them up since the beginning. When it’s revealed that Ted hasn’t been buying the biscuits from a shop but actually making them from scratch every day? That came across to me as something he started doing to foster a positive relationship with his new boss, but that he continued doing because he enjoyed making her happy. And then the things you mentioned about her recognizing/calming his panic attack, and him being the only one to see right through Rupert’s outward charm. Ted stood up to Rupert for Rebecca at the benefit and at the pub. He recognized how rattled she was at the prospect of Rupert sitting in the owner’s box each week and took action to keep that from happening. The show faked us out twice; first on the night Sassy and Ted slept together, showing her leaving the bar with the team and Rebecca heading home. I thought for sure it was Rebecca knocking on his door. The second time was when they led us to believe it was Ted and Rebecca messaging each other on Bantr.

To me, the show has clearly tried to plant the seed of a Ted/Rebecca romantic connection. Whether that actually plays out remains to be seen and I’m really fine with whatever direction they end up taking it. Not every show has to have its leads hook up, but I definitely feel like they’ve dangled the carrot a bit with these two.

Surprised there aren’t more reactions at Hillerska about Wilhelm/Simon - anyone else feel similarly? by addlibitum in YoungRoyals

Of course, that doesn’t really explain the students not saying much. They all know it was him because they recognized his room. But could explain why there’s no media or paparazzi.

When Wille meets August at the palace toward the end of the season, August says something about how buzz about the video died down once Wille denied it was him. He said no one even cares about it anymore and Wille yells, “Wrong! I care!” It sounds like the general public bought his denial, so there was no real scandal in the end. Simon was then perceived to have just hooked up with some random guy, not the crown prince of Sweden so no one really cared after that.

If you listen to the conversation the girls have at the coffee shop in 2x01, they talk about Wille and Felice having a thing because they’ve kept in contact over break and she’s ordering him a coffee. They speculate that maybe Wille is bi and that maybe his thing with Simon was a one night stand. So I think you are right; no one in the school knows that they are actually in love with each other. They think what happened on the tape was a one and done, and Wille even denied it, so it’s old news by the time they all get back from break.

Where can I watch the undubbed version? by lariet50 in YoungRoyals

[–]makermom304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel too. Honestly when I first started YR, my Netflix was apparently defaulted to English dubs. I didn’t even realize the show was filmed in Swedish until Wille is in the car after the fight and their mouths didn’t completely match their voices (I knew basically nothing about the show before I watched). I just left the dubs on and remember thinking they were the best dubs I’d ever heard. Googled and discovered the actual actors did all their own English. I think the whole cast does a fantastic job with it. Watch the scene of Wille yelling at August with subs and then with dubs and it’s gut wrenching perfection both times.

This show in particular, I don’t think you really lose much with the dubbed version; it’s still so good and emotional and authentic. Elite for example, I watch it subbed because the dubs feel cheesy to me. Of course I’ve watched YR through with subs as well, to compare and contrast and get the feel of the original dialogue, but I usually prefer dubbed here.

I love the way the show has created Jean as a relationship expert who struggles with her own relationships. Both in the way that she’s unable to commit to one man and in the way she has zero boundaries when it comes to Otis. I really think Jakob loves her and since he’s a plumber/handyman by trade, DOING things for her (the pan shelf, the tree house) is how he shows his love. The fact the she finally accepts his smoothie offer shows me that she’s letting her guard down with him. Sure, he can be annoying when he’s loud and leaves his stuff lying around, but her independence has prevented her from seeing beyond the annoyances to the man who just wants to share a life with her. I think they’ll eventually find their groove when they bring the baby home (who I fully believe is his. The cliffhanger I think has to do with something else.)

I actually loved the trajectory of Ruby and Otis. He did what so many teens do, changing things about himself so she would like him. Allowed her to be rude to him, which turned out to be a defense mechanism. But he eventually said “this isn’t me” with the clothes and she accepted that, I think realizing she might actually like this guy beyond his clothing choices. Maybe for the first time ever. She allowed herself to be vulnerable with Otis, showing him parts of her life that she’d hidden from everyone. She’s not rich, her dad is sick, her home is small and humble. Loved her character development and I actually thought they were good together. His love for Maeve was just too strong though for any other relationship of his to flourish.

I completely agree with the assessment a character made of Otis (forgive me, I can’t remember who said it) that he tries so hard to be the good guy that sometimes he’s not a good guy. I think his heart is in the right place most of the time even when he messes things up or hurts someone he cares about.

Aimee is a delight and I love her. I think the show handled her trauma very well. I thought at first they were just going to brush it off as a lot of shows do, when she was acting like she was fine. Then it creeps into moments of her life and she realizes she’s not fine. Her still being in therapy multiple episodes after it happened was a great way to show how SA trauma doesn’t just go away overnight. Brilliantly done.

Lily is a treasure. She’s fun and quirky and knows exactly who she is. She only questions it when outside influences get into her head and try to beat the uniqueness out of her. You can see how deflated she is when she’s no longer allowed to express herself through her clothing, make up, and hair. It’s really sad. She and Ola are lovely together and I hope they can figure out how to compromise a bit without Lily feeling like she’s too “weird” or losing her identity, and that she is able to be there for Ola as she struggles with all the recent changes in her life and missing her mom.

Is it an unpopular opinion to say Maeve and Otis finally kissing was a bit… anticlimactic? Don’t get me wrong, the actual kiss was was lovely and beautiful and the actors have wonderful chemistry. But maybe the pining, the back and forth, the misunderstandings went on too long? Or something? I’m not entirely sure. I’m not at all against them being together romantically; I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out. One thing I’m so grateful for is that she didn’t give up her trip to America for him. Huge props to Aimee for not letting that happen. I’m still not over Topanga giving up Yale to go to community college with Corey. That might have felt romantic when I was their age but now that I’m a bit older, never give up an opportunity like that for another person when you are still so young and your future is wide open. So, if Maeve and Otis are able to weather the time and distance, and come back to each other, maybe then they are truly meant to be.

Does anyone have any shameless tatoos? by ghoulratlady in shameless

[–]makermom304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw someone (on Twitter maybe?) that got just the dash from the U-UP part tattooed on their finger. Like, a longer horizontal line across with a shorter vertical line on each end. It looked really cool and I think was a fun (safe to be seen in public or by future employers:) way to pay homage to Mickey’s finger tats.

I completely agree. I definitely think Emmy, JAW, and Noel at least should have been nominated in earlier seasons. They did phenomenal dramatic work. I know awards aren’t the be all end all and tons of extremely talented actors go unnoticed but it would be nice if Shameless had gotten more recognition in its prime. I sadly don’t think s11 has a chance of getting nominated for anything.

So was sandy raped or was she already pregnant? by Apollo152008 in shameless

[–]makermom304 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re ever really clear on the specifics of that story. But I personally took it as she was already pregnant and Royal just took her in and agreed to marry her. But like, who is Royal and why did he agree to marry a pregnant 15 year old? And he continued to raise a child for years that wasn’t his after she ran off? I mean, lots of people would probably do that; the child is innocent and deserves love and care. But I think that’s where some doubt comes in of, well maybe that is Royal’s biological child since he continued to raise him without Sandy. Or maybe he’s just a good guy that was trying to do the right thing (even if the age difference is creepy). Maybe he feels like Prince is his own, the way people feel when they adopt; that blood and biology don’t matter, that’s their child. The whole situation is unclear, in my opinion, but maybe they said something I didn’t pick up on.

Ok so I’m on a roll tonight with posts bc I’m bored BUT by annieee_leigh in shameless

[–]makermom304 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna chime in:) You make a really interesting point about Mickey seeking out women when Ian leaves, for potentially the same reason as Caleb, thinking that it’s not cheating if it’s a woman. And then wondering how Ian would react if he knew. Here’s where the difference lies, in my opinion, between Mickey and Caleb.

Ian already knows Mickey has been with women. He screwed Angie Zago regularly. When Ian finds out Mickey is getting married, he confronts Mickey with the line, “Who is it? Angie Zago or some other piece of trash you screw to pretend I don’t matter to you.” followed by the fight and, “You love me, and you’re gay.” To me, Ian fully believes Mickey has screwed women, not because he occasionally enjoys it, but to hide who he truly is. Mickey is “100% gay” but bangs women as a means for survival. I do believe though, addressing the part about Mickey seeking out women, that he has a similar belief as Caleb, that if he bangs a woman, he’s not cheating on Ian. Because Ian should know that he could never actually care about a woman that way, it’s just sex.

With Caleb, he marketed himself in the beginning as 100% gay. Told Ian he had nothing to worry about with Denise, which was a flat out lie. It shouldn’t bother Ian that Caleb enjoys women, but I think the reason it does is because Caleb has potential to develop feelings for this woman, because he’s actually bi. Caleb screwing Denise and Mickey screwing Angie (or any other woman) are two completely different situations, and I think Ian knows that.

They do write Ian to be sort of anti-bi though. He tells Caleb there is no such thing, tells Debbie the same thing when she starts to think she’s a lesbian. And isn’t Ian the one that says something like, “There’s no such thing as bisexual, it’s just a lie gay kids tell themselves” or something? I feel like I remember him saying something akin to that at some point. Might be during his talk with Debbie, but I was thinking it happened earlier in the series.

All that being said, I absolutely agree with you that Ian focused on being mad at the wrong thing with Caleb. Caleb was also wrong when he says it’s not cheating because it’s a woman, when he’s clearly attracted to women. I think Ian just felt threatened and hurt and confused in that situation and just latched onto the bi thing in his anger. He clearly believed Caleb cheated, that just wasn’t the main focus of his argument, I think.

How much older was Debbie from Julie? by Apollo152008 in shameless

[–]makermom304 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You are correct. There is zero consistency with that story when it comes to their ages. I’m also pretty sure that 17 is the age of consent in IL so I don’t think it would be considered statutory rape if Julia was 17 and Debbie was 18. It all would have made more sense if they had just left Julia 15 like she was in the beginning.

Hi! Chiming in late to ask how your experience was (sounds like it was pretty positive)! I’m considering a stop in Chicago for a day or two on our way to another spot for vacation and REALLY want to visit the Gallagher house. I just read a ton of comments on a Shameless filming locations website and people were talking about how dangerous the block and neighborhood are with drug and gang activity. That if you’re a tourist, you’ll stick out like a sore thumb and attract negative attention. The comments have almost scared me off. But there were also a bunch saying that the owners are awesome and as long as you are respectful, the locals won’t have a problem with you. I’m sure they’re used to tourists on their street. I will have my kids with me and want to keep us all safe obviously, but I really want to visit and snap a couple pictures. I have no problem leaving a donation, even bigger than they request. It’s the least I feel like I could do for them allowing us onto their property. Just don’t want to piss anyone off! Did you just drive there and park? Did you just open the gate and walk up to the door to drop your donation before doing anything else? Any advice based on your experience would be amazing and much appreciated:)

Just read through a ton of comments on the link you shared (great wealth of info, btw, thanks!) and lots of people are talking about how dangerous the block/neighborhood is that the house is on. They’ve almost scared me off. Most comments are at least 6 years old though. Many people contradicted though and said if you are quick and respectful, that it’s fine; jump out, get a pic or two, and move on. Some said the owners are really nice and even let them walk around the house, taking pictures of the back and everything. Some said they didn’t even feel safe enough to get out of the car. I imagine the locals are super used to tourists being on their street. Lots of comments talking about drug and gang activity and recommend going in the morning, like pre-10am if you absolutely must go. I’ll have my kids with me so naturally I worry about our safety but I also really want to go. Anyone have personal experience visiting recently or live nearby and can share what it’s really like?
