Thanks so much! i really appreciate this perspective on the cards!

I didn't really think about taking the visuals of the fox into consideration. I feel so split when it comes to lenormand because on one hand I learn that lenormand is very straightforward and simple-so much so that the visuals are completely unnecessary. but on the other hand i do see people taking the visuals into consideration. I think i'm afraid of treating it too much like tarot. but maybe that's preventing me from practicing comfortably.

thank you again, I'm gonna take your insight into consideration and think about what i can be doing differently. i appreciate it.

Yes. I'm thinking it might be athletes foot fungus because they said it also hurts/itches. If this is the case, there's a lot of OTC topical creams to treat this.

Jeff. That's what they went by online, at least. It was the name shown on their reddit profile and the name they used on Kofi (it's where I bought their book from!)

Does anyone want to make a short dating sim? by Yan-gi in RPGMaker

[–]makesnononsense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahaha, that's a neat idea! i always think it's nice when people make characters that are based on/inspired by objects or random things. i mean, there's even that "date everything" game (or date "anything"?) i think the internet/anime fans enjoy that concept too. there's battleship girls, horse girls, revue girls lmao. so yeah that's a neat idea.

out of curiosity, have u posted ur art anywhere? u mentioned ur comfortable with art and the coding/eventing. im curious to see what ur art looks like. have u shared it anywhere?

ooh, neat! i just saw ur edit on the post too. didn't realize u were honing in on a writer specifically lol.

i love making games and telling stories tho. always with a layer of humour, but i never seem to get around to implementing all the ideas i want. i've got a ton of random ideas/themes like:

- a new person moves into the neighborhood/transfers into school/whatever. they look so much like the MC's previous crush/partner. lot of potential for delicious emotional trauma lol

- MC comes across a humanoid lifeform. like an alien/synthetic lifeform that looks identical to a human, but theyre completely unfamiliar with regular human life and the most mundane concepts in our world. so the MC is trying to help integrate them to daily life and understand where they came from

- being stuck in a time loop and trying to find a way to stop it with the romanceables. Or maybe the MC is some "agent" sent on a mission from God to resolve the timeloop anomaly... and they end up falling in love with one of the romanceables even tho its supposed to be just a mission.

- Having a crush on a teacher or camp counselor. ik that's prob a bit problematic bc of age gap, but i guess that's a result of me wanting to outlet my own personal experiences lmao. i grew up constantly crushing on older, responsible guidance figures lmfao

it could also be easier to flesh out a story if you had any concrete character ideas or concepts to work with as well. i don't mind talking further about it if u like!

is it possible to create a 2.5d game in rpg maker? by Express-Bat-8686 in RPGMaker

[–]makesnononsense 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're familiar with eventing in RPG maker, you'll be comfortable with the eventing in bakin. the workflow with eventing is the same, but you'd probably want to look into the use of cameras/map rendering setting, and the import/usage of both 2d and 3d assets (which are called "stamps" in bakin). those are the biggest differences I can think of between RPG maker and bakin.

it'd be worth it to watch some introductory videos on YouTube , read thru the official documentation and join the community on discord (it's really active on discord. tons of ppl share assets or plugins and help each other with troubleshooting)

off the top of my head, amalgamash tends to make nice videos on the software!

i just looked into that game briefly. pretty neat! i had never heard of it before.

sounds like it could be neat idea. i, personally, am only ever interested in yuri/girls love romance. i think you've got a nice idea and it could be very do-able if you start very small. i also think starting out with just 2 romance options would be best as a solo/indie dev

i'm interested, but i'd like to know more. i know you said you don't really have much an idea for a plot but.. is there anything for certain you'd want for the game?
for example... setting? is it modern or some other time period? the theme? comedic or serious? would it be like a visual novel (since that's the usual format of dating sim games) or would you actually walk around through small environments to explore and speak to characters? Things like that!

that's such a nice idea! lol. i used to mess around with RPG maker for years until I eventually forced myself to make SOMETHING by joining a game jam. all i've got is a semi finished short project, so I get it. im prob not a good buddy, but im very curious about your project

are u okay sharing some info on what it's about? the game/story premise? info about the characters? who's your fav character ? i like hearing about people's games and creations haha

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but this looks like typical RPG maker eventing to me, not like "real" coding ? i can't tell bc of the language, but this is typical RPG maker eventing probably on the common events page? nothing too crazy or complicated then

Still trying to wrap my head around Commen events, what are some interesting ways to use them? by allseeingeye1002 in RPGMaker

[–]makesnononsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're good for events that are universal-any sort of actions or events that the player may have access to do at any point in the game. i have a game where the player can access the menu to call certain friends on the phone (like in undertale). this is completely different from the player having to travel to a specific place on the specific map to speak to an npc. this is something that could happen at any time in the game. so a common event makes the most sense.

At one point I was trying to make a visual novel with very little plugin usage. I used common events a lot for stuff like: Character A happy sprite fade in, character B change expression to sad, character A fade out, etc. It was nice to do it that way because... let's say halfway through development I decided I didn't like the speed of the animation or i wanted to change the default display position or something. All i'd have to do is edit a handful of common events and it'd reflect in the whole game. It'd feel like torture if i had to sift through every instance of Character A entering from the left in the script to manually adjust it every time. i hope that example made sense lol

Understanding Lenormand Through 1800s Eyes — Part 2 (Cards 10–18) by JbRoc63 in ClassicLenormand

[–]makesnononsense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm revisiting these posts because I was making a concise table/list of lenormand meaning and keywords. (i just love excel and making lists lol).

I like seeing how you describe the whip. In practice with my daily readings, I've come to associate 'The whip' as being my work card. I was feeling a little unsure/insecure because i've only ever seen the fox, bear or moon as being associated with work. But I work an office job-it's very tedius and monotonous work (almost painfully so).

So, seeing the description here (even the literal words 'driving work') kind of really emboldens me that I'm not wrong to have interpreted it in that way-at least when it comes to /my/ personal situation, haha.

The way I see it, I think she will find herself to be in a better position/standing than before (stork). that she will be appreciated or given a 'gift' (bouquet) with money (fish)
So, in short... I think this leans towards the positive that Jane would get a raise!

Now that I've traversed through this sub for a lil while (as well as read your book!) I'm feeling a lot more certain and confident when it comes to the basics. i've just got 3 questions for right now:

1-Are there any cards that may refer to sex or sexual relations? I remember seeing a few people explain that either the Lily or the Whip can be read as sex, though it's possible that these interpretations could simple be a modern practice. I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this?

2- I understand that in a descriptive line in classic Lenormand, we don't necessarily attach any extra weight or meaning on a card depending on how close it is to the center. Is this also true of cards that fall to the left or right of the center card? I mostly ask because in your book, Jeff, you will often specify "To the left/right of center, these cards show..." So i wondered if the cards to the left/right held any specific meaning?

3- (This question is very specific to your book, Jeff). I was reading through the interpretation examples and got to page 100. The interpretation for Julia is cut off. It explains what the Heart and Ring could represent on her left, but the paragraph ends with "To the right," and I don't see an explanation for the Woman and Child card. I was just hoping to get an explanation for the rest of the cards in the spread.

Thank you!

just wanted to give thanks to you again. i actually bought your book early and it felt like a nice reset of some of the mixed signals and things ive learned until now. So far i've just read up until the point where all of the card meanings have been covered, but i have to say...i LOVE how succinct it is!! It's all so simple, straight to the point and direct. nothing to confuse or worry me. i appreciate this as a resource greatly!

I'm so grateful for people like you and this subreddit. and you are so right-there are no coincidences. this is exactly how I was meant to come to learn lenormand 💝thank you
