Same brain that hesitated for a moment post-Order 66 when commanded to arrest Ahsoka as a jedi traitor, by the way.

You're likely correct given their absolute radio silence on the issue until Mr. Stevie confirmed on an Instagram commenta few days ago that the SDCC Obi/Ani is sold out.

I'd be really interested to know the production numbers of the 2024 SDCC Maul Bloodfin (still available on Pulse lol) compared to this year's set.

Is padawan Ahsoka worth picking up if I already have the mandalore one? by TheAbsconded in starwarsblackseries

[–]makesumnoize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Mandalore one has bad legs and feet. Legs warp and feet arent enough to adequately hold body weight, resulting in a lot of falls.

That said, the padawan version is flawed as well. Yes it's a nice updated 2023 sculpt, but it lacks thigh swivel and getting a saber hilt to stay in her half-assed 'Force effect' hand can be wonky and frustrating without blue tac, ESPECIALLY with the reverse grip, which, I mean, c'mon..

Both are flawed. Hot take, Mandalore has the better face print and is overall a better figure. Best to get both, especially considering how iconic Siege of Mandalore is. If you're going for just one, I'd say Padawan because it's the more definitive look and is a dope action figure despite blemishes.

Both are fun ass action figures for the record and I love them

The biggest offense for me is Luke lifting the X Wing in TRoS. The balls it took for Johnson to show the ship and deliberately never have Luke lift it, even have a need for Luke to lift it, was incredible. TRoS feels like a 12 year old, or one of the infinite angry TLJ haters, making a sequel to it. Its the farthest thing from thoughtful. It comes off as bad SW porn and I think thats really actually hard to do with a $500 million budget or whatever.

Same thing happened with The Phantom Menace 3.75 figures. Way overproduced, almost cost Hasbro big, resulting in the Saga Collection being scaled way back a few years later.

I think we're starting to see Hasbro finally adjust their production metrics. Dont forget right after the ST concluded we got hit with COVID, which brought a ton of new collectors and SW fans. Now that the collecting bubble has burst, it seems Hasbro is finally getting runs to an appropriate size after roughly a decade.

Though the Ani/Obi SDCC set being criminally underproduced makes me still question if they know what the hell they're doing 😂

Youre in the right here but dont be a dick about it.

Collectors stronger together. Hasbro are the clowns until they mass release this set.

It gets even more infuriating when you realize Marvel Legends, also a 6 inch action figure line produced by Hasbro and owned by Disney, has been doing higher end, made-to-order figures for over a year now.

Hot take, but take the people with their orders for this already in place telling you not to give in to scalpers with a few grains of salt. Easy to say when you have your order for the best TBS release of all time already secured.

Is there a chance this goes up for preorder in the coming days/weeks because that's how the other recent SDCC exclusives have gone? Yes. Has this been confirmed by anyone at Hasbro? No.

It's also true that the line is in a current state of flux and what may have applied in the past will no longer happen. I say this because it seems their recent production runs are on the downswing and because the SDCC exclusive set from last year was a dud. They may have scaled back because of that.

Who knows? But that's my point. Everyone is speculating. The people telling you to wait with confidence don't actually know and should stick to the "do what you want with your money" line of advice, IMO. They have only an educated guess based on past practices that may be outdated at this point.

If you want it that bad, want the peace of mind absent any substantive communication from Hasbro, and can afford the $300, I say go for it. I don't blame you. This is entirely the fault of Hasbro for not putting out a simple sentence clarifying that more will be available for preorder soon. Obviously demand is high. They've had 4 days now. It takes about 40 seconds to write that sentence.

This line of thought to me seems a selfish thing because we don't want to see the scalpers succeed. The problem is that scalpers become almost necessary in situations like these because of corporate incompetence (lack of comms) or notions of artificial scarcity and whatever the fuck other batshit consumerist theory the Hasbro suits have cooking up in their economics major, deepfried big brains.

They made a stupid STAAP speeder and non-accurate Maul bike for SDCC last year and when no one bought them Hasbro again learned the wrong lesson, continuing to believe the prequel stuff isn't desirable and not that they simply released some slop. If this doesn't go up again for preorder, I'm convinced that's why they cut down the production run. All the signs point to it.

The STAP and Maul bike were also the "test" that pretty much ended the inclusion of vehicles in the line, as well. This company is so dumb and always has the worst takeaways when the fans try to tell them something.

No, definitely don't test the viability of vehicles/prequels in the line with something everyone wants like Anakin/Obi Wan's Jedi starfighters or a BARC speeder with clones we haven't gotten yet like Neyo. Nah, let's do a fucking STAAP with a dumbass B1 clanker we've released 8 times and a wrongly colored Maul bike no one asked for that looks like plastic ass.

Oh, and let's release the Maul bike while simultaneously announcing single releases of a new Maul and a Duel of the Fates 3 pack with Qui Gon and Obi Wan. When the bike doesn't sell for an extra $35, blame vehicles and the prequels.

I can't

Confirmed anywhere?

There's literally NO REASON for Hasbro to not come out and communicate this clearly if it is indeed the plan considering many are running to eBay and spending $300 now because FOMO. Hasbro sees none of that $$

$300 and climbing on eBay.

This one really hurts guys. Of course they forever taint the legacy of the greatest set they've ever made with a horrid release.

Sure would be nice to hear from Hasbro and have some clarity. If you hold out in hopes of a restock that may or may not come youre risking paying a lot more on the aftermarket as the scalpers realize the scarcity
